The brunette rushed into her room, carelessly dropping her schoolbag. She didn’t even bother to change into new clothes as she flopped onto her bed, grabbing her switch from the corner of her bed. In her other hand was a cartridge. On the cartridge was the title “Love Me” in pastel pink, a new visual novel that everyone has been raving about. The story was about a schoolgirl who is in search of her true love. Yes, the premise sounded cliche but based on the spoiler-free reviews, it was quite well-written despite that.

Strangely enough, the cartridge didn’t have the case. Then again, it was secondhand. The previous owner said that she lost it but was happy to sell it to her with a 70% discount. What luck! One would wonder why she’d need to buy secondhand copies of games if she’s the daughter of the Number One Pro Hero of the Philippines. But she didn’t want to bother her mother, especially when she knew just how busy she was. She felt guilty about making her pay for her games. That’s why she had to buy it with her own money.

Mari hastily ejected Fire Emblem: Three Houses from the switch and inserted the new game before she powered up the console and opened Love Me. Soft piano music played as the menu screen was displayed. She could see the main girl in front with all the love interests behind her. Among them, one stood out to her. He had light blond hair and ruby eyes. The reason he stood out was because he bore some resemblances to her dear friend, Suki. It’s not like she had a crush on him or anything, she just thought it’d be funny to say that she found him in a visual novel. She selected “New Game” and waited for the opening movie to start.

However, something went wrong. The screen went white and froze. Her eyebrows furrowed and she tried pressing every button, even attempting to shut off her switch but to no avail.

But then, a bright flash engulfed her vision, blinding her and her consciousness faded.
