It’s National Peacock Day, and what way to celebrate the day of the peacocks than surrounding yourself with them?

Today was March 25th or to Mizuki, the International Peacock Day. She loved celebrating these kind of pointless occasions when she had nothing to do, and she had no plans for that day, so, she decided to set up a peacock tent in the school forest and spend a day in there. The forest was filled with greenery and a lot of trees, and there was a cool breeze blowing her hair gently. She already got permission from her home room teacher and brought survival necessities such as food, water, a first-aid kit, her hero suit(you can never be too careful), and her utility belt.

”Okay, I think this is it…” Mizuki muttered as she glanced at the amount of items she brought. “I may or may not have brought a bit too much.” There were a stack of bentos, and a variety of snacks that even for Mizuki, who has a big appetite can’t eat all of them. There were also peacock themed clothes, pajamas, everything was peacock-themed.

“Yeah, I brought way too much stuff… but it’ll take a long time to go back to the dorms, not to mention, I’ll have to explain why I brought so many snacks… at least I won’t run out of food…” Mizuki started to work with setting up the tent, which was a bit of a challenge. Next, she put all of the items she brought inside the massive tent, including her art supplies, food, water, clothes, you name it. And then came the major challenge: finding a peacock.

She had brought her art supplies, because she wanted to draw a peacock for the honor of the peacock day. But, there was a very minimal chance that she was going to find one, and even if she did, she would have no way of controlling the peacock to model for her for three hours. She made a simple plan: if she didn’t find a peacock in under five hours, she was going to have to use her phone for references. “This shouldn’t be too hard… five hours should be enough for me.”

Oh, how wrong she was.

The forest was anything but biodiverse. There were hardly any animals in there, not even hedgehogs, squirrels, or rabbits. She also tripped after running reckless and scratched her cheek. It wasn’t anything too major, but she had to put on a band-aid for a few days. Mizuki sighed with disappointment, “This is pointless… I thought there were some kind of animals and hopefully a peacock…”

”Have you guys seen Mizuki today?” Izuku asked to his friends while rubbing his eyes tiredly.

”I’m afraid I haven’t seen her for a while today, Midoriya-kun,” Ida replied with his usual serious tone.

”I haven’t seen her too. Sorry, Deku!”

”Who cares about that Glitters?” Bakugo muttered with an indifferent expression.

”Come on, Bakugo! That’s not manly of you!” Izuku was starting to get worried. His overthinking brain was coming up with reasons why he and his friends didn’t see her. Perhaps she were still sleeping? Did she have to go somewhere? What if she was ambushed by villain nearby and got sold to the League of Villains? What if-

”Midoriya-kun, calm down.” A monotone voice ordered Izuku, which got him out of the trance of overthinking. Todoroki was looking at him with his arms crossed. “Let’s ask Aizawa-sensei. Maybe he knows where she went.” The rest of the class nodded in agreement and hurried off to find their sensei, worrying for their friend.

”Kajiwara? She informed me that she was going to spend a day in the school forest.” There was a moment of silence between everyone, and Mina was the first to break it.

”Why would she spend a day at there? It’s going to be dangerous…”

”Kajiwara is strong enough to handle herself. If you really want to check up on her, I have the location where her tent is set up.” Aizawa gave Izuku a small piece of paper that had the location.

What the class didn’t expect when they arrived to Mizuki’s tent was how massive it was. And how it was strangely peacock-themed. “I don’t understand… why is Mizuki suddenly obsessed with peacocks?” The class shrugged at Izuku’s question. There was only a small breeze and the sound of… humming?

”I think that’s Mizuki-chan’s voice!” Hagakure excitedly whispered to Kyoka, who didn’t respond. Izuku took a step and checked if Mizuki was in there.

”Are you there, Mizuki?”

The girl was broken out of the concentration. She was about to finish her cheese sandwich and her drawing of her peacock. She sighed and zipped opened her tent. She blinked once, then twice and finally muttered a feeble “Oh”.

”How did you guys find me?”

”By sensei, Glitters. You made the damn nerd worry for over an hour.” Bakugo spat while rolling his eyes.

”I guess I should’ve left a note for you guys… sorry.” Mizuki awkwardly smiled, uncomfortable of the silence. Suddenly, Izuku lunged at Mizuki and hugged her tightly, surprising her.

”I was worried that you were kidnapped by a villain or something…” Izuku whispered. Mizuki patted his back. She noticed Izuku was shedding a few tears, which she frowned at.

”You need to stop being a crybaby, Izuku. Gosh, those tear ducts never have a day off, don’t they?” She wiped off Izuku’s tears with a tissue with care while giving him a small smile. “I’m sorry I made you worry, Izuku.” She hugged her friend as her apology. One by one, the others started to gather around the duo, with a few hugging Mizuki as well.

”What was the reason you set up a tent and leave us?” Tokoyami asked curiously.

”Oh, today’s the International Peacock Day, and I was bored so, I decided to find a peacock and draw it, but there wasn’t any peacocks, so I had to use references and I’m almost finished with it, plus my cheese sandwich.”

”Are you sure you’re okay, Kajiwara-san? You have a band-aid on your cheek.” Yaoyorozu stated with concern, which Izuku reacted with a paled face.

”Just call me Mizuki, Yaoyorozu-san. And yes, I’m fine, it’s just a minor scratch anyway. So, do you guys wanna eat something? I have a ton of food and I’m not sure if I can eat all of it.” Mizuki replied, showing her massive pile of snacks and food.

”I guess we don’t need to cook today.” The rest of the class laughed at Mina’s comment, eventually digging into the snacks.
