Phanes OC Review

For Phanes' March prompt, we were

assigned to review an OC written by

our randomly assigned partner!

I was super excited for this, especially

because I got partnered up with

Bendi, who asked me to review his

OC Ria.

I'll be going through the Wiki and noting

cool things about the character, followed

by things I thought could be added or

improved upon. Not sure why that order,

it just makes most sense to my brain

while I'm writing this.

                              Ngl, the first thing I noticed about the

                            Wiki was just how nice the aesthetic is.

                          Like... How?? Bendi, please teach me :sob:

                                 The quote banners particularly were

                              really cool, and made me look forward

                             to seeing who was dropping that many

                               facts and sass. Characters that point

                                          out the flaws of society are my

                                    weakness oops. Well, one of them.

                              My other weakness is just... Hot, edgy

                                                OCs and may I just say :flushed: :flushed:

                             I love the red, black, and purple theme

                             on this girl. And all the outfits in her art

                                   are amazing and I want all of them.  

                                 I don't have much more to rave about

                               besides her having a really cool Quirk

                          so sadly I'll be moving on to the criticism

                                                              part of the blog now.

I'd like to start this section by disclaiming

that I critique OCs on another Amino. As

such, I've gotten maybe a tad *too* nitpicky

and have a tendency to point out even super

minor things. Not trying to attack Bendi, my

brain just picks up on weird things.

The first thing I noticed is that I was very

confused by the name section. I realize

the backstory kind of clears it up, but

even just saying "She was found without

a name, so people called her this" might

help clear up some of that initial confusion.

Also, minor related detail, but I was

disappointed that the names Yugo and

Ouka never appeared outside of the name

section.

While the name section was confusing,

the biggest fault I found in the Wiki was

actually that its straight up missing a

personality section. The quotes help,

but I really wanted to read more about

how she acts, her likes and dislikes, etc.

Without this, almost any character feels

a bit emptier than they have the potential

to be.

Similarly, I felt like there could be more

detail added to her Quirk section as I

had several questions about its abilities.

As minor a detail as it is, I was curious

if the clones always wear whatever she

is wearing when she makes them, or if

they somehow have a set outfit that

makes it easy to tell they're clones.

Additionally, how many clones she can

make and how far away from her they

can be seem like good questions to

answer for balancing purposes.

Finally, in of her "villain" work

(though I would argue she's a vigilante

who occasionally kills, just like how

some heroes occasionally must kill),

I had a few thoughts. One being that

I really wish she had a costume; she

wouldn't wear it constantly, but as

someone who started as a vigilante,

a recognizable outfit for when she's just

on patrol rather than specialized missions

would be cool. Also, I really want to know

more about said missions and side jobs.

                                 Honestly, I loved the concept behind

                               this OC a lot and enjoyed reading her.

                                   I just wish that there was even more

                                 for me to read, and that her vigilante

                                     work and views were expanded on

                                    more. I'm really hoping Bendi takes

                                 some of my comments into ,

                                    because I'm already dying to reread

                                     her Wiki and enjoy her story all over

                                                                                          again.
