This chapter goes over Kurumu’s training session with Mustard! Honestly, I want to keep him around in this story long term. So I maaaay just do that. :relaxed:

It’s a little shorter than some of the others, but the next one will not be so short. I’m hoping to make these chapters longer.

"What I can do..?" Kurumu looked down at the weapon in her hands, then back to Mustard. "I've never used one of these before."

"It's easy!" Toga took the gun and showed Kurumu the different parts of it, and how to use it. "Just make sure you know what you're aiming at before you fire. We don't want anyone getting hurt."

"Wait, why is he in a gas mask?" Kurumu turned back to ask Toga, but she was already gone. "Shit.."

"My quirk is Gas." Mustard tossed her a gas mask and bulletproof vest. "I can produce a sleep-inducing gas that will prevent you from seeing, but I'll be able to track your every movement while your inside of it."

"Damn it.. if this mask wears down, I won't be able to stand it very long.." she said nervously, her hands shaking as she held it tight.

"I guess I'll go easy on you for now, but later on you won't be able to use that mask. Oh, and be cautious. Those masks don’t last very long." A purple haze of gas started swirling around him. Kurumu quickly put on the mask and vest and tried to evade the gas what she could, until the room was filled with it.

"If you can land one hit on my vest, we'll stop. But only then." The brunette boy advised.

"A-Alright.." She grew more nervous as time ticked by. The gas thickened and she tried to get closer to him, firing off a few shots. However, the gas tracked her every move. First shot, he dodged. Second shot, dodged. Third shot, dodged again.

"Damn it.." she mumbled to herself, but he only laughed.

"Come on, is that all you got? Are you powerless against me?" He antagonized her, trying to get her to show some kind of retaliation. Agitation mixed with her fight or flight instincts kicked in. There was nowhere to run, so flight was not an option. Her only choice was to fight. Before she could react a bullet landed on her vest causing a small shriek escaped her lips.

"I've already landed a hit on you and you've barely moved!" Mustard laughed some more, trying to get her riled up. He knew that she had some fight in her, he just had to push the right buttons to bring it out. He didn't actually want to hurt his new comrade, just help her be able to defend herself. "Show me that you're more than just a pretty face."

"I-I can't. I'll hurt you.." Kurumu's voice trembled, and she aimlessly fired another shot. Mustard avoided the shot and fired one back at her, hitting her chest.

"If you didn't have that vest you'd be dead right now! I could have just killed you! Yet you don't even have enough self respect to fight back." A smug grin crossed his face underneath the mask, until he felt his body pinned against the wall.

"I'm tired of being weak.. I'm tired of not being good enough.. I will land this shot and.." her voice trailed off and the room seemed to spin. The gun fired off and she hit the floor, ed out from the mask giving out. Mustard felt him regain control of his body and walked over to her unconscious body.

"You were just a smidge too late." He chuckled, then noticed a bullet lodged in to the vest where his ribcage was.

"Well I'll be damned. She actually landed one." The boy pulled the bullet out of the vest, then picked her up and started to carry her back downstairs.

"I'm guessing it was a flop?" Kurogiri asked, leaning against the bar as he watched Mustard carry her to a couch in the back.

"No way. She just had to find the right motivation. It was a little late, but she managed to do the one thing she said she would." He tossed the bullet to Kurogiri. "It's just one, but she actually managed to hit me. I have a feeling she just barely showed me her power."

"Whoa, she actually used it?" Toga asked, leaning over the back of the couch to look at her friend. A big smile crossed her face and she looked back at Mustard.

"You must have pushed her hard to make her do that! I bet you two will be the best of friends!" She giggled, the blush on her face turning brighter as she talked about it.

"We're not here to be best friends, Toga. We're here to take down those wannabe heroes." Mustard rolled his eyes at her, taking off his gas mask and oxygen tank, sitting it down on the hardwood floor and leaning it against the back of the couch.

"Don't be such a bummer, it won't kill you to be friends with us!" The blonde pouted, but then smiled to her friend again. "I can't wait til she gets to stay with us all the time!"

“Well, that may be sooner than we planned. I believe Tomura mentioned wanting to have her here full time to train before we make our strike.” Kurogiri spoke up as he cleaned a glass at the bar.

“Really? Oh, I hope he follows through! We can have so much fun. It’ll be like sleepovers all the time!” Toga cried out, excited to finally have her best friend with her all the time.

“I’ll do my best to work with her on her weapons training. She’s proven to be a good challenge, if she can get that quirk of hers under control.” Mustard pushed her hair out of her eyes and smiled a little.

“Tomura is actually looking for just the right person to teach her, as we speak. Hopefully he will have someone to help her with that tomorrow.” Kurogiri put the glass away and walked to her. “But now I must get her home. I’m sure it’s nearly dinner time and her parents may notice she’s gone if we wait much longer.”

And with that, she was back in her bedroom with the rest of her belongings. About an hour later, her mother came knocking on her door.

“Kurumu. It’s time for dinner.” The woman harshly called to her daughter, rapidly knocking. When she got no response, she huffed and walked inside the bedroom. She grabbed Kurumu’s shoulders and shook her awake. “I said it’s time for dinner!”

“I’m awake, mom. I’ll be downstairs soon..” The blonde sat up and rubbed her eyes.

“Alright. Well, you’ve got two minutes.” Her mother warned before walking downstairs. Kurumu huffed and grabbed her notebook, flipping to a clean page and bending the edge to keep her place. Then she closed it back and made her way downstairs for another questioning session after dinner.
