Introduction
╚═══════ღ══♡══╝
After seeing the featured post and reading through it I definitely decided I needed to enter, I had a lot of ideas regarding what to write that I definitely switched between scenes to write with before deciding to use scene two. I had a /lot/ of fun writing this that I almost finished it the day I started writing. While I entered for wanting to win, I also did this for the fun of it, I hope you enjoy reading as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Nothing goes right without a correct plan, Things don't just happen without a lead-up to the event. But what if, without a trace or reason, everything had gone up in flames, everything lost to the flames that consumed everything it could get around, forcing everyone to drop everything and evacuated. What happens next when a third year student is faced with having to find his friends while trying not to assume the worst.
☆═━┈┈━═☆
Ash and dust obscure the world in a dark, putrid haze like no other, flaking through the smoke like minerals settling in a glass of water. Flames spark amidst the debris, alighting. patches of the otherwise gray-toned town square in flares of insignificant orange and red whisps. Wreckage scatters the area, chunks of rock and broken structures lying haphazardly atop the once-pristine grounds. Where order once reigned supreme, chaos and destruction has now stolen the rule.
White wings stretched wide over the horizon of the smoke-filled sky, wood crackling underneath the air-born student. Frantically looking left and right, searching for any movements his eyes could pick up on, Riku Sasaki could only act in panic, when his fight or flight instincts kicked in, his body chose flight, quite literally. The black-haired male knew that it was a stupid decision to stay even remotely close to the burning city but he needed to know, he had to be sure. He couldn’t leave otherwise.
It had happened suddenly when everything bursted into flames in the midst of day, everything consumed in sparks and smoke as everyone left, all but one. Riku was too busy worrying about his friends, after multiple messages, Multiple calls to them and even their remote family, there was no trace of them, After being told that it was best to leave and they’d show up sooner or later by his teacher, Riku decided to take matters into his own hands, playing hero because while the real heroes were busy evacuating the city, he was busy finding his friends. The winged male couldn’t understand how they were nowhere to be found, they were only two years younger and the last time he had seen them they were heading to class, how did they disappear? Did something happen to them?
Drawing in a smoke-filled breath, Riku soon coughed, coughing the smoke he had inhaled. Throwing his arm over his nose and mouth the air-born student took the chance and dove down, finding a clearing in the fire to land. Standing in the debris of the burning buildings, Riku folded his wings carefully behind his back. He needed a better alternative. He needed to think, where could they have gone? How did they possibly disappear?
“How could a thing like this happen..?” The student asked himself, turning around in circles to find an opening. He had to take a break from searching from the air, he was sure his wings would give out if he kept going. Using his wings as a shield from the heat and sparks, Riku pushed his way past a few buildings, now in a clearing where he could walk around freely. Bringing his hands to his mouth, he cupped them around, “Kato!” he called out loudly. “Kononatsu!!” He continued yelling. The names were nothing but familiar to him, the names belonging to his friends, Suya Kato and Kaibara Kononatsu, the three of them had been close since both Suya and Kaibara had arrived at U.A so the sudden disappearance was startling to the older. “God damnit, at a time like this you both decide to just up and leave!” Riku stated with frustration, pulling his phone from his zipped pocket and checking his messages; Nothing. None from his friends at least. Riku noticed the few messages from his parents along with a few other classmates, deciding to ignore them, Riku clicked his tongue in annoyance, putting the device back in his pocket. The black-haired male went to move, something catching the corner of his eyes, he stopped, turning in its direction and narrowing his eyes. As much as he wanted to just ignore it, something was telling him he couldn’t. Kicking through the debris as well as watching for the flames and sparks that were still burning, Riku quietly made his way over to the corner of the building, flapping his wings to clear the smoke the best he can, it didn’t seem to work well enough and so, without much thinking, he walked further down in between the buildings. “Kato..? Kononatsu?” He questioned, maybe it was his friends, maybe they were lost, trying to find their way to the evacuation center where everyone else was.
Riku was quickly startled by the sudden cement falling from the slowly collapsing building, rushing forward the student was just barely able to make it without getting hit. Turning around to look back from where he came from, Riku slowly took a step back, tripping over a crack in the road and falling backwards. With a small thud, the male laid there for a moment, limbs sprawled out as he stared up to the smoke-filled sky, watching as the flames turned its once beautiful blue colour to grey, orange, red and black. Was there really any hope? Riku began to wonder if he should go back, trust what his teachers were telling him, Maybe Suya and Kaibara had already found their way back, maybe they were okay, but that gut feeling telling him that that wasn’t the case was what forced him to push himself up from the ground, shaking his wings of the small rubble from the ground. Sighing to himself, the winged boy picked a direction and began walking before deciding to take flight, Becoming air-born once again, Riku was a lot faster in the air than he was on foot. “Suya! Kaibara!” Riku yelled once again, this time using the two’s given name, maybe he’d have a better chance of catching their attention.
☆═━┈┈━═☆
Riku wasn’t so sure how long he had been air-born before deciding to go back, avoiding the rocks and flames trying to reach him but when he had just lost hope, from his side view, two unclear figures running on foot. It wasn't clear to the other whether they were running towards the city that had erupted into Chaos or trying to run away from it. Either way, with no clue as to who or what the could be, Riku tilted sideways to catch up with them, maybe they could tell him what had happened, maybe they could help him find his friends. Coming closer, the initial shock of what Riku could see him. The two figures being more than familiar, both Suya and Kaibara running. But from what? From who?. "Kato! Kononatsu!" The male called out, a grin on his face, though the sudden ringing of their friends voice caused an expression of worry, an expression of fear. Both coming to a stop they gave a glance to each other before the student they call their friend.
"Sasaki.. what're you doing here? Why haven't you evacuated with the others?" Kaibara asked with a bit of Hesitant worry as he looked to Riku who only hovered in the air. Riku's eyebrows creased as if the answer was obvious, that they should know he had no other reason to be out here. "Looking for you guys? What to do you mean, Wh.. why haven't you guys evacuated? I've been worried sick!" Suya bit is tongue. "You haven't figured it out?" The white-haired male asked with confusion, surely it was obvious. "I mean.. surely you have, it's quite obvious why were out he-" Suya felt a jab to his side, his gaze sharply turning to Kaibara who had elbowed him. Riku stood, confused as he eyes his friends, what were they talking about? What was he supposed to have figured out by now?
Suya rolled his eyes going to speak again before Kaibara spoke up. "We got lost and we couldn't find where everyone had evacuated, both our phones died and we've just been going in all directions" The other claimed on a hair, Suya having no choice but to play along. "I figured that was the case, that's why I was looking for you guys, Geeze.. it would've been useful to have found you guys awhile ago.. they have everyone evacuated on the south side of Musutafu.." Riku rubbed the back of his neck, turning over his shoulder to look at the ruins of what used to be Musutafu.
☆═━┈┈━═☆
Riku had carefully guided the two back to the south side of the city, it was a Hassle for sure, trying to avoid the withering buildings the the flames that were still dimly lit, the air was riddle with smoke and made it tight to breath, yet all three of them were welcomed back with open arms, Riku was pulled to the side by his parents, being scolded for his reckless thinking and actions, which he expected was going to happen while both Suya and Kaibara's parents only welcomed them with worry, after all they had no reason to be upset with them.
"It was them! It was those two I swear I saw them!" A distant voice claimed, walking forward with to authority figures. Riku turned from his parents who were now expressing their worry for their returning child. The man who came forward looked about in his mid twenties and he created looked well off, Riku wouldn't be surprised if he worked with some hero agency, but from what he could tell he didn't seem to have any mutant quirk, it only made the black-haired male curious. "Are you sure it was them?" "Yes yes! I'm sure, I was walking down the street from my office when I saw those two lighting a fire!" The stranger had no shame in pointing towards both of his friends, both Suya and Kaibara. Riku laughed as if it was some kind of joke, the other two, only stood quiet. "That's a funny joke but you must be mistaken, they're just first year Hero's in training.. why would they ever want to cause something like this?" Riku questioned, his wings shifting ever so slightly.
"Do you not see how riddled the justice system is?" Suya questioned, turning to his dear friend. "There's a lot of things wrong with it that I won't bother to name for you, but surely you must see them? Right?" Suya continued on pushing, Kaibara looked to his friends with a look of sorrow. "This is like, some joke, right? You guys have gotta be joking" Riku questioned. "I mean, we're all friends, we were supposed to graduate and build our own agency.." Suya laughed, Kaibara took a small step backwards. "It's never that simple Sasaki, even you saw something like this coming, just not from your own friends" The expression on Riku's face shifted as both his friends were detained, the mask on Suya's face was taken off and all there was on his face was the slightest grin as the two of them were lead somewhere for temporary holding until they found a better solution.
Riku stood there, his hands to his side as he watched what he thought were his friends before turning back to Musutafu, his home.. destroyed and swallowed by Ash, dust and flames, and for what?.. because of some problems in the Justice system.
What has the world become.
