The holiday season was something that was very much anticipated by everyone in U.A. Small winter decorations could be seen through the school as the winter months came approaching. Although all the students were enrolled into a hero school and have likely been planning their hero lives after high school they still liked to enjoy the simplest pleasure of their teenage years.
Throughout the year many students had conducted a plan to hold secret gift exchanges through the students in each class but due to the ‘rivalry’ that was often talked about between the both first year classes in the hero department it was decided that these students would hold a gift exchange between each other.
The original plan had been that each student would randomly be given a name but with further discussion between both class representatives there were alterations to the original plan. Now each student from the class would receive the name of the student from the other class. They couldn’t share the name with anyone from either class and there was no name refund. Whoever’s name you got was the one who they had.
A good portion of the class was happy with the names they had received. After all it wasn't hard to get a basic idea of what they would have wanted come the holiday season. If anything they were lucky that they knew what the others wanted, meanwhile here Michael stood with a piece of paper that had the name Momo Yaoyorozu in elegant writing, most likely her own.
What exactly could you give the girl who could literally have anything in the world?
Everyone knew that whoever had gotten Momo’s name would have a hard time with getting a gift. Even though she was sweet and noble there was still a need to want to impress her. She could have anything she wanted, whether it was by buying it or if she was going to create it herself.
Anyone’s first impression of her would be that she was a refined young lady with specific taste in what she liked. A girl of high standing, and a reputable family that would expect nothing but the best. So, how exactly can someone meet such high expectations. This was going to be a difficult task to put it lightly but they’ll be damn if they don't give it their all.
“Alright everyone, you all have your name and we all know what the rules are so you have two weeks to come up with a gift.” Kendo spoke up over all the excited voices in the dorm. While they weren’t meant to share the names it didn’t keep them from being very open as to what they would like as a gift. From some flowers to a gaming system, and as luck would have it Momo had not expressed what she desired to be gifted.
“Kendo is right, we should all have enough time to pick a presentable gift. Make sure that you keep your gift a secret until we meet again.” 1a’s class president began to speak as all other voices began to drown out. There were some nods and replies in agreement before the two classes split off into small groups to go back to their conversations.
Two weeks might not be enough time for Micheal to come up with a gift good enough for Momo. If anything they would need a year to come up with anything to fit her standard. Although it was obvious that she wouldn’t care what the gift was, that still didn’t mean they were going to give the bare minimum. No, if they were going to do this they were going to give it their all.
“I’m telling you, there is going to be someone who is going to get a simple holiday card. I think it’s going to be Bakugou.” Uraraka’s voice was easily distinguishable amongst all the other voices in the room. Looking around for a second they found her sitting on the couch with her legs crossed with her head leaning on Tsuyu’s shoulder, using her as a pillow of storts.
On the other end was Ashido and Jiro who could only laugh at her statement. “You’re not wrong but I would still feel bad for him if that was all he got. After all he would see this as a competition and would bring in one of the best presents.” The girls giggled between themselves before any of them noticed that Micheal was standing nearby.
Uraraka was the first to notice. “Micha, us.” She greeted them with a smile motioning for them to sit with them, so they did. “We were talking about some possible gifts that would be handed out. What do you think we’ll see going on the exchange?” It was a simple question, but for some reason it was a bit complicated to answer.
“I’m expecting to see some mistletoe. There is no doubt in my mind that one of the guys will bring that out.” There was a laugh from both sides. “Oh yeah, Kaminari already has that planned weather or not he’ll go through with it is something else.” The girls began to switch from topic to topic. Unsurprisingly nothing that they would find useful or interesting at the moment so they began to tune them out in order to better hear their own thoughts.
The worry to get Momo a gift was still there but not as noticeable as it once was. Maybe it was the carefree atmosphere that was surrounding them, or maybe it was the warmth of Uraraka pulling them close in a semi hug when everyone began to round up to watch a movie. It could have been the movie itself that made them forget of the worry of finding a gift but the point is that they no longer had that.
As of now in the darkness of the room where everyone was watching a movie the thought of the gift exchange had migrated to the back of their mind They could stress about the present another time. After all they had two weeks to come up with a good present for Momo, and right now they wanted to enjoy the movie like everyone else.
…
“This is definitely a lot harder than I thought it would be.” It had been two days since the meeting between both classes and the excitement was still in the air. Like one would expect not everyone was having an easy time coding upwith gift ideas so when Itsuka sat down near them during class it was obvious that she was having the same troubles as some other students in the class.
She let out a small sigh as she laid her head on the desk causing her classmates to give her a concerned look, one of those students being Michael. “I don’t know enough about the students of 1a to know what they would like. I don’t want to be predictable and give them something that they won't be using, I want it to be useful while they're here in U.A, and I doubt they’ll want work books.”
It might not have been the same as everyone else but there were definitely some similarities in what everyone was thinking at the moment. “Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to have the gift exchange between classes, or we could have at least added a wishlist or something.” Her words were practically drowned out since she was still facing the desk but they were still close enough to hear what she was saying.
Michael raised an eyebrow as they leaned and patted her back as a form of comfort. “Don’t say that. It was a good idea, and it’s not just because it’s funny to see Monoma struggle to be nice to 1a.” The orange haired girl looked up in hope. “I’m sure 1a is having trouble too, maybe we should meet up with them and just hang out. See if that will bring up some ideas for some presents.”
The girl immediately brightened up. “ Michael you’re a genius.” The blonde only shrugged as Kendo got up to run out of the classroom. Walking in the room and almost bumping into the running girl was Tetsutetsu. He turned around a bit as the female gave him a quirk apology before going back to running.
“What’s up with her?” The blonde smiled with a shrug. Without another quiet the silver haired male took the seat where the girl once was. Unlike Itsuka he sat back looking relaxed as ever. “This whole gift exchange was easier than I thought would be. I was able to find my person something perfect on the first day.”
Michael only turned to face the classmate with a knowing look. “Let me guess you got them some weights.” The male turned his head a bit with a surprised looked. “Was it really that easy to guess.” They shrugged. “It’s to be expected. The whole point of this thing is to learn about the other person. For all you know they might not use weights.” There was a groan from his part. “I’m going to have to rethink this whole thing out again.”
Just like Kendo, his face met the desk with a sigh and just like before the blonde patted his shoulder in confort. “There, there, I'm sure you’ll find something great.” There was another sigh only this time louder. “If it makes you feel any better you’re not the only one who’s still looking for a gift.”
Tesutesu looked up for a minute before slamming his face back on the desk with a loud groan. It didn’t make him feel any better. If it didn’t work on them why would it have worked on him. This was going to take a while. How hard could it be to find something meaningful for your person.” The grey haired male shrugged a bit before turning his head to face the blonde.
“Do you have our gift?” How to avoid the question without making the situation worse. “This isn’t about me. I was trying to help you .” There was a nod on the males part but still he continued on with his questions. “Maybe if you tell me what got for your person it’ll give me ideas for what I should give to my person.”
Now how were they going to get out of this one, and as if she could hear their thoughts, Kendo ran in with a beaming smile. “I was able to work something out with 1a.” her classmates gave her a look before she began to give a small apology for being disruptive and walking over to the pair.
“ You were right, They were having trouble coming up with some gift ideas so the class rep and I decided that maybe we should meet up sometime to get to better know each other.” Her voice was much lower as she took a seat in front of Michael . “ That sounds like a solid plan. When are we going to do it?” Tesutesu had sat up fully at this point, completely interested in the topic of the conversation at the moment.
She gave a small smile. “ We were thinking at the end of the week. It would give us still a little time before finding the gift without getting in the way of education or training.” The blonde gave a solid nodt in approval before looking over at the grey haired male. “You think you could wait until the end of the week to find the perfect gift?”
As much as he hated the idea of not being able to to find the right gift but he agreed non the less. "I need to learn more about them anyways so this fire is better. This just means i have to get a better present to make up for my last attempt." Pride filled the male as he gave his rather loud speech causing others to turn and face him.
Just like before a small but quick apologize was given to the other students before going back to their conversation. "Well that should settle most of our problems for that. I'll go tell the others." Kendo gave a smile before walking up to the front of the class room to give her announcement. Tesutesu looked over at the blonde who was fiddling with their fingers. "you still have no idea what to get, do you?" With a sigh the blonde shook their head. "well I'm sure you'll find something to work off of this weekend." hopefully.
…
Maybe it wasn't a good idea to wait until the last minute to look for a gift. It's been over a week now and still there was not a single idea as to what they could give to Momo. Even though their little meeting was a few days ago the girl hadn’t given a single hint as to what she would have liked.
All she had went on saying was how she hoped that whoever had her name would put a lot of thought into the gift and that she already had her gift. After that she would go on to ask about others. She was too humble. How exactly are they meant to find the right gift if she won't give much to work with.
It was obvious that everyone was having trouble at some point or another but Michael really felt as if they were the only one who still hasn't figured out a proper gift for Yaoyorozu. If only it was possible to look into her mind. Maybe then they’ll be able to find something to give.
"That's it, I give up. I thought I could do this but now it's impossible. I've been looking for days and have found nothing." The blonde set their face on the lunch table as the students around both turned with confusion and concern at the sudden action.
"There has to be something." Ochako sat nearby, gave soft pats on the back in an attempt of comfort while looking over at the rest of her friends in confusion. "Uraraka is right, there must be something that I might enjoy. It might not even require money. I know that some of the best gifts are those that are made from the heart."
While any other day hearing Midoriya's words would be reather encouraging right now they were just not up for the hopeful speech that was about to be given. “thanks but i’m sure just sitting here won’t give me any new ideas.” there was an agreement on Todoroki’s past that caused all of the other students to turn around to give home a look.
He simply stared at them blankly before giving them any sort of response. “I also was having trouble finding a suitable gift, but i found a way to solve that dilemma.” he didn’t go on. “you aren’t going to tell us how you were able to save your problem?” there was a small moment of silence before he spoke again. “I doubt their problem could be solved the same way I resolved mine.”
That was all he said before going back to eating. The students simply stared at him for another second before dropping the subject and going back to the original topic. They began to bounce ideas in order to help out with Michael’s problem at the moments. While the help was appreciated it only caused their mind to start racing with all the ideas.
It wasn't until after the group's conversations shifted onto a different topic that something clicked in their mind. There were only a few more days left before they had to exchange their gifts, did it really matter if they asked for help now? They’ve already tried to think of anything themselves but nothing was working out. Who better to ask than her own classmates.
“Hey do you think you can help me out with choosing a gift?” Michael looked up at the group to stop their conversation. "I mean it's only a few days away and i can't think of a single thing. you guys would know her better." The group of students shared a look. It was obvious that they weren't going to help them out with this. "We really aren't supposed to know who the gift is for, it wouldn't be fair if we help you out like that."
While Midoriya had a point in what he was saying it didn't make this any earlier for them. "Can't you just give me a little hint as to what I could give?" Uraraka was probably the only one willing to give them any sort of help although she didn't speak up since everyone else was against the idea. "I sorry Micha, it really would be fair if we help you out like that but I know you'll come up with a great gift."
The bell rang, signaling the end of their lunch. Slowly they got up they said their goodbyes to the blonde who couldn't find themselves to get up and make their way to class. The days were coming to a coming end and everything was getting more and more frustrating. Maybe a simple card would do the trick. Yeah everyone else has a promising gift and they come up with a card.
No, there had to be something that they could bring. They promised themselves and their stubbornness wouldn't let them go down until the last second. So, here they were. In front of a small thrift shop hoping that they'll find something good here. After so long thrifting has never let them down before so this was their last option. After this they'd just have to come in with a card, and they really didn't want to do that.
…
Today was the day of the gift exchange, and much like the class representatives had hoped things were going great. There was small bickering and jokes that filled the 1a common room. The gifts were exchanged throughout the evening, each one being received with a joke from one student or another.
The happiness and joy could be felt everywhere and was contagious to everyone in the room. Even Monoma was enjoying his time with his rivals much to everyone's surprise, although he was the one to start the agreement as to who gave the better gift between the two classes, everyone was enjoying their time.
Well almost everyone, Michael was enjoying the atmosphere but still the anxiety of not having a good gift. As the gifts were being shared the only thing that ran through their mind was whether or not Momo would like what they got her. "It's really easy to know when you're worried." The blonde numbed a little in surprise when Iida came to stand next to them as Momo was presenting her gift to Yui Kodai.
"Matryoshka dolls, Momo made her matryoshka dolls specifically for her. How exactly am I meant to compete with that?" The male shrugged a bit. "It's a competition, you know. There's no need to think that way." Michael only sighed as their classmate took the gift with joy before moving back to talk with some other students.
Now it was their turn. The way they had planned the exchange to go was that they would start with one student, and once that student had their gift the one who gave the gift would receive their gift. It would be a long line if everyone got someone different and not someone who had already given their gift. Then again not many people were following that order and we're just giving out their gifts when they'd seen fit.
Here they were standing in front of a small group of classmates waiting for the gift exchange. "I'm not really sure if you'll be okay with what I got you but this is my gift to you. I found some old books in one of my favorite thrift shops. That and some clothes that I felt were somewhat your style but still had a vintage feel to them." They hand her a big bag with all the items inside.
They couldn't look up at her. It was nerve wracking to say the least when they heard the russiuling of the bag and a happy sound Yaoyorozu did they dare to look up. Momo meant them with a grateful smile as she pulled out the old looking books. "I've heard of these, I've just never seen them with my own eyes. This is an amazing gift, thank you very much Michael." She gave them a hug before walking over to her friends and skimming through the books with excitement.
"See there was nothing for you to worry about." That was the first thing Iida said to them when they walked over to their original spot. "Yeah, but it didn't make my stressful week any better." The phrase came out in a small laugh. Thinking back to what they had going on everything just seemed kinda pointless now. Maybe if they would have just tried something they wouldn't have had such a hard time.
"Aw, thank man, you really didn't have to get me that. I would have been fine with some weights or something. I still love this Crimson Riot merch is awesome. I kinda wish I had thought of something that manly." Kirishima's loud voice could be heard from the other side of the room but what made Michael turn around was the feel of Tesutesu eyes on them.
They could feel the annoying feeling of the silver haired male saying they were right. Then again how exactly were they going to know that Tesutesu was going to luck out and get Kirishima out of all the students in 1a. "I got something for you." Iida's voice broke through their thoughts.
The blonde looked over at the male who was holding a gift box in his hands. This was odd since Shoji had given them their presents earlier that evening. Yet here Iida stood with a gift in hand. "A gift for you, if you'll take it." Michael just stood in shock. "I thought you already-" "I got this specifically for you." he interrupted. They took the box with a small smile. "Thank Iida."
"Oh look who's under the mistletoe?" From somewhere in the room one of the girls voices could be heard. Nearby the pair stood Kaminari with a sick and holding a sting. From that was hanging the mistletoe that was being used all through the evening. They were currently standing under the mistletoe that Denki was holding.
The males face reddened for a moment before an irritated Jiro came up from behind the electric blonde and dragged him away. On the way lecturing him as the rest of the students laughed a bit before going back to what they were doing. Meanwhile the blue haired male stood in front of them with an embarrassed look. "were you expecting a kiss Iida." they couldn't really help teasing the male for a bit.
"N-no, it was just that I didn't appreciate such a joke from a fellow classmate." Michael only nodded as they inched closer and closer to the males face. "You sure?" Once again the males face reddened, maybe brighter than before. "Don't worry Iida." They gave him a quick peck on the cheek. "I'd never lead you on like. My gift to you." The heat reading off the male could be felt after they returned to their original distance. Hopefully he wouldn't see just how much their face was flaring up as well.
"Hey Micha, come here look what I got." And just like that the moment between them was interrupted by an excited sounding Uraraka and Midoriya dragging them over to see the gifts they had received during the exchange. The blonde could only trunk to give Iida a wave before being completely dragged away. They would definitely have to talk after this was over. For now they could enjoy the moments. They could enjoy the peace of the holidays like everyone else.
─ outro/author's notes
Again I hope you enjoy the gift. I hope that I was able to provide what you were hoping for. This was a bit different from what I’m used to since I don’t really write oc content but this was really fun to make so thank you for the opportunity.

That's true friend ship
I love there shirts
hi
A H? AAAHHH! THIS IS AMAZING, WHERE DO I EVEN START???
First off, I love the concept of a cross-class Secret Santa/gift exchange. It felt like a natural thing that may happen between them.
I adored the way you had Michael included in the girls' group to just chat and watch a movie. Same with them sitting with the squad at lunch.
They are very much a verbal/physical person. That's their way of showing appreciation. The fact that you had them struggle with choosing a gift for Momo was accurate all the way down to their frustration and trying to get hints.
I. LOVED. THE. GIFT. I didn't expect you to pick up much less include the thrift shopping they do. I audibly gasped at how they gave her the books and clothing. She's rich so second hand things aren't something she'd really be around. Not at all what I thought would happen.
The mistletoe! Gah–I squealed so much at Jiro dragging Denki away.
1000000/10 I LOVED IT. My only nitpick isn't towards the story itself actually. You just misspelled their name during the character mentions section.
