➴Well-Intentioned

Katsuo has made mistakes in the past, but she’s determined never to do so again. She has suffered first-hand the consequences of living a selfish life and has decided that she needs to give back to the world what she once so ruthlessly took. She is on a journey to put as much good into the world as she can, helping anybody who needs it and even those that don’t. Her intentions might get mixed up in her aggressive demeanor and paranoid behavior, but she only wishes harm on those who wish harm on others.

➴Courageous

Katsuo fears nothing. Or, if she does, nobody can tell. She trusts herself completely to get through and survive any scary scenario and doesn’t let herself get scared out of doing what needs to be done. Whether the threat is physical, emotional, or mental, she tears through it like it’s nothing. This makes any previously-conceived weaknesses in combat a moot point because her sheer power of will defeats whatever an enemy can find to throw against her.

➴Self-Dependent

Katsuo hasn’t had to depend on others in years, which isn’t all that impressive considering her age. Most people her age are self-dependent but she takes the word to a whole new level. She’s been taking care of herself since childhood, managing to build her way from a child abandoned on the streets to a pro hero. Her methods haven’t always been legal, but they’re undoubtedly effective. Thanks to her cunning and wit, she’s never starved, because she’s always managed to find herself what she needs.

➴Adaptable

Change is everything. Katsuo has gone through many life upheavals and now knows to prepare for anything. She prepares for the worst and the best and every scenario in between. She trains herself in useful survival habits. She’ll run fake drills for herself to ensure she can react properly and efficiently to any possible disaster. She’s done this since she was a child: hiding an emergency pack in the garage she squatted in and practicing grabbing it in the dark of night and fleeing, practicing holstering and unholstering firearms in the most efficient way possible, and running possible escape routes as exercises.

➴Wise

When Katsuo was in her twenties, she never would have believed it if somebody told her she would become a genuine pro hero. She would have laughed in your face, saying “Something must have gone terribly wrong in my life.” Over the last twenty-odd years, Katsuo has become a completely different person. She is no longer a criminal but sees herself as a redeemed sinner repaying the world. When it comes to life advice, she has plenty, because she’s been through plenty.

➴Intimidating

Katsuo has always been a tall woman, and years in prison gave her nothing to do but work out. Now, she’s a hulking giant, scaring away anybody who might consider robbing or hurting her or those around her. She stands a head above any crowd and is hard to miss. While her size and muscle is good for security, it sometimes makes it difficult to have a social interaction. People feel uncomfortable around her, seeing her as a threat rather than an acquaintance.

➴Antisocial

Katsuo isn’t the biggest fan of meeting up with strangers. She’d rather stick to her small but close-knit group that she knows she likes and trusts. Even interacting with others without the ultimate goal of befriending them is awkward for her. She’s always been more fond of actions than words and grows bored easily in conversations. As such, she prefers to keep mingling with others to a minimum. Besides, once people learn more about her story and what she’s done in the past, people tend to start ghosting her.

➴Cynical

Even though Katsuo wants to do good to the world, she can’t help but mistrust it. She used to swindle and steal, so she knows just how common it is. As such, she is on a constant lookout for anything that might imply ulterior motives. This results in her analyzing even her friends’ behaviors and words as if she expects them to take advantage of a weakness if she were to show it. Her cynical nature has been the topic of many arguments with her friends, as they feel she doesn’t trust them.

➴Protective

Katsuo does her best to protect the innocent. It’s her way of giving back to the community. It doesn’t matter who it is or how big the threat is, they can trust Katsuo to deal with it. She’s even more protective of her friends, even to an unhealthy degree. She’s willing to let herself get hurt so others don’t have to. After all, she does it willingly, while others suffer without choice. If she can take the suffering so others don’t have to, she’d happily do so.

➴Observant

If Katsuo isn’t talking, then she’s observing, and she doesn’t talk much. It’s an old habit that she never dropped from childhood; she’s always on her guard, watching and listening to everything around her, even things that aren’t supposed to concern her. She’ll be listening to a market stall transaction while somebody tells her about their day, or she’ll keep an eye on a father and son while eating dinner. Nobody and nothing escapes Katsuo’s notice.

➴Short-Tempered

Katsuo isn’t very patient. She has places to go and things to do. She gets upset easily, either through frustration or anger. In addition to being rather impatient, Katsuo is sensitive about a lot of topics. She still has regrets about her previous lifestyle, and any who mock her for it will find their jests quite effective. She hasn’t quite learned how to properly control her emotions. Well, maybe its more apt to say she’s not willing to let her pride suffer just to avoid an argument.

➴Aggressive

Katsuo is all too eager to resolve things violently. She doesn’t have the patience to fix things the long, slow way. Why work out negotiations when she can just raid a villain’s hideout and knock them all out? Her straightforward thinking applies to social situations, as well. Why spend hours beating around the bush or sugar-coating the truth when she can just say what she wants from a person. If things don’t go as she plans, which they often don’t she’s eager to prove her worth through a fight.

➴Uncultured

Katsuo has never been a fan of the more subtle or ive roles of society. Politics, manners, etiquette, it all seems like a waste of time to her. She sees it as fake kindness, something given and performed with insincerity. Kindness and goodness can only be shown through actions. Anybody can say they’ll do good or pretend they’re a kind person, but not all who do follow through on their presented generosity. As such, you’ll rarely find her exhibiting mannered behavior, and many see her as a brute.

➴Uneducated

Katsuo never received a proper education as a child, instead teaching herself everything she knows. She has since attended classes on various subjects, but she’s undoubtedly missing the base structure of what many people in the world know. She knows how to haggle down a price, but doesn’t know how to do the math to figure out how much she saved. She knows how to predict somebody’s punches, but doesn’t know the psychology behind identifying body language. She knows enough to fit into society on a surface level, but her intelligence is challenged the moment anything education-related is brought up.

➴Jealous

Katsuo is doing her best to leave her past behind her, but it’s hard. Being one of the first villains-turned-heroes in Japan, many people recognize her face. Many don’t believe people are capable of such a drastic change, and her heroics are often dismissed or belittled in the face of her past. So, she looks to successful heroes in envy. No matter how much she pours into her work, people will only ever see her as a criminal.

Her apartment collapsed around her in the middle of a villain attack at the age of eleven, fatally wounding her parents and breaking her leg, trapping her. Heroes didn’t show up in time to save her parents. Katsuo didn’t know it then, but that is when her grudge against heroes began. If they had left some people behind to help the wounded rather than all chase after the fleeing villain, they would have survived.

Katsuo escaped child protective services and any orphanage they were planning on putting her in. Even in present day, if you asked her why she ran, she’d just shrug. Maybe it was an act of rebellion, maybe she was emotionally unstable and needed more time before more change was forced on her. Either way, she stayed on the streets. Stealing and lying her way to a survivable situation. She wasn’t happy, but she was alive.

At the age of fourteen, she was mugged after pickpocketing the wrong person. They took what little she had, leaving her a bloody pulp. That taught her she needed to know how to defend herself. When she was able to, she started training, teaching herself and attending any cheap lessons she could find. Working out became her primary time, and soon enough, pickpocketing became nearly impossible. She drew too much attention, was too much of a threat. Everybody was keeping her eyes on her, moving out of her way as she went through the crowd, whispering about how such a dirty-looking kid could be so muscular.

She was sixteen when she ed a gang. Not a well-known, well-feared gang, but a blossoming gang of other street urchins, and edgy rich kids who quickly left when actual crimes started being committed. An organized crime group dedicated to robbing stores, shops, and houses rather than just pick pocketing and petty theft. Soon enough, Katsuo was a wanted criminal. But she had experience avoiding government corporations and forces.

It took several years for Katsuo to be caught, but when it happened, she pleaded guilty in the hopes of a reduced sentence. Her experience in jail was an eye-opener. What about it was eye-opening? You could ask her, only to get another shrug. Before she was released, she was approached by a group looking to rehabilitate criminals into pro heroes. After all, who could better identify and find criminals than ex-criminals? The first thing she did after being released was call the company.

After a few years of training, she now prowls the streets again - this time, not as a predator searching for a victim, but as a protector searching for a predator.

➴Rappel

Katsuo places the hook on a raised platform, and places a restriction on herself, deciding she can’t move more than a certain distance from the marker. This essentially creates an intangible rope between her and the marker. She can adjust this distance telepathically to be able to go farther from the marker at a safe pace, essentially creating a safe, unbreakable, and invisible rappel. When used this way, she can not make the limit farther than 60 feet or else the tether will cease to exist

As long as Katsuo is within 30 feet of the marker, she can teleport to it.

If the marker is within 60 feet and is on something that weighs 100 pounds or less, she can pull it to her with minimal effort.
