𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 ˑ༄ؘ ㅡ It's unclear what Xochipilli's abilities are because he doesn't have many myths surrounding him. But I could see him being able to summon and control vines and plants.

Xochipilli is a bisexual, gender-fluid, youthful, carefree, and fun-loving figure. He is basically the ultimate hippie god of the Mexica people. He did not require human sacrifices for his rituals; instead, only wanted bread and tamales as offerings. Aside from his comion, kindness, and excitability, though, he has a noticeable mischievous streak. He is not a trickster like Huehuecoyotl (although rumor has it that they've rendezvoused ;) in the past) or Xolotl, but he does like to laugh and have a good time. He is highly energetic, communicative, and active. And it's very hard to piss him off. Nevertheless, he still commands respect (especially during and around the time of his annual ritual and feast). He tends to not hold grudges, though, and is very forgiving.

𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘦 ˑ༄ؘ ㅡ

Traditionally, Xochipilli wears a mask and is adorned with flowers from psychotropic plants, mushrooms, and animal skins. He has a youthful appearance. There is an imprint of a hand or a butterfly on his lips.

In modern times, to me, Xochipilli is very fluid and doesn't stay as one appearance for long. Sometimes he is a handsome teenage boy, other times he is a mature adult woman. However, the one thing that always seems to stay the same is his warm, sparkling chocolate eyes. He likes to appear androgynous and overly flamboyant and enjoys bright colors. He often has multiple butterfly, mushroom, or flower tattoos, but this is not always the case.

𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 ˑ༄ؘ ㅡ

Xochipilli is not hated in any way. He might be a bit of an outcast in the Aztec pantheon because he never demanded human sacrifice and always preferred love to violence. However, he has multiple lovers of all genders and a good relationship with most of the gods. His brother is Ixtlilton (a god of medicine + good health) and his sister (or female counterpart) is Xochiquetzal (goddess of beauty). He’s particularly close with Huēhuecoyōtl (trickster deity) and Centeōtl (god of maize).

He is the leader of the Ahuiateteo, which is a group of five Aztec gods of excess and pleasure. They also represented the dangers that come with these. In this group, Xochipilli is Macuilxóchitl (five-flower) and represents the highs and lows that come with gambling.

As most of the Aztec codices have been destroyed, what were the myths of Xochipilli have been lost forever. However, since there is much speculation that Xochipilli is both himself and Xochiquetzal, one could find Xochipilli in the myths of his female counterpart.

I'm pagan and Xochipilli is one of the gods I worship. I like his personality, his style, and the things that he stands for. Even in the midst of all the bloodshed around him, he was a manifestation of peace, love, and delight. He protects the underdogs and the people who are different.

However, despite his easygoing attitude, he is a powerful shaman. He dwells in the rift between worlds, watching over both mortals and the souls of the departed. He represents psychedelics and the wild journey they take you on; the crushing ego-death, and the realization of the spiritual.

"Oh, man! Did you see his face?" Huehuecoyotl howled at my side, his face radiant and his shoulders trembling with laughter. He looked up at the deadly dark clouds that hung over the veranda. The rain pelted down on the sidewalk, soaking our shoes, while the thunder roared loud enough to rattle the windows. It was so, so easy to piss this guy off. I loved it.

A lot of people think that pulling a prank on one of the big shots isn't worth it. But I, for one, am inclined to disagree. Sure, they're big and burly with a lot of pent-up anger nestled deep within their masculinity. And they could definitely bend and break me like a measly twig. But they won't, because they never do. Even when I cause the storm of the year by dyeing all of Tlaloc's clothes pink. I thought he could use a feminine touch.

I follow Huehuecoyotl's gaze to the dark clouds above us, a satisfied smirk still dancing on my lips. The adrenaline had faded, leaving in its place a quiet sense of satisfaction mingling with drowsiness. I could go for something sweet.
