With the Conference Semifinals behind us, it's time for the Conference Finals, where the remaining 4 teams are only just steps away from accomplishing their ultimate goal of winning the championship but before that they will have to endure 4 more victories before earning a spot in the NBA Finals. Without further ado, here it is.
(3) New York Knicks vs. (4) Indiana Pacers
My Pick: Knicks
I think it's safe to say that one of the NBA's biggest old school rivalries has been revived with the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers getting set to meet each other for the second consecutive year and the 9th overall.
The Knicks took 2 out of 3 from the Pacers during the regular season, and this is a no-brainer I will take the Knicks to win this series. The Knicks fresh off the unbelievable stunning upset over the defending NBA champion Boston Celtics in 6 games for their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 25 years as they only needed 4 more win to reach their first NBA Finals in 26 years. Meanwhile, the Pacers enters this series well-rested after dispatching the top seed Cleveland Cavaliers in another stunning upset only needed 4 more wins to advance to just their second NBA Finals in their NBA history and the first since 2000.
(1) Oklahoma City Thunder vs. (6) Minnesota Timberwolves
My Pick: Thunder
At first, I didn't expect this to happen, but we are already at this point where the Western Conference Finals matchup features the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves, so ready the popcorn and enjoy the show.
The Thunder and the Timberwolves split their regular season meetings at 2-2, and as usual so far in these Playoffs, I will take OKC to win this series. The Thunder needed to undergo survive a tough 7-game series against the Denver Nuggets to punch their ticket to their first Western Conference Finals in 9 years only 8 more wins needed to achieve their ultimate goal of a championship. On the other side, the Timberwolves are expected to be well-rested, following yet another 5-game set this time with the Golden State Warriors coming up on top for their back-to-back trip to the Western Finals only needed just 4 wins to reach their first ever NBA Finals.
