I this topic was first brought to my attention by a video from Clevver:
First let me point out that the commentary that she made at the beginning was completely unnecessary "Let's just say it's not 'To All The Boys I've Love'"
But I'll not waste my time talking about that because that's not what this post is about.
Shannon Purser later talked about the problems with her character: the photo reveal, the kiss, the catfishing, pretending to be deaf, etc.
I agree with her and the scene when she gets home crying wasn't her blaming her being fat for her actions was she recognizing how insecure she was because of her weight.
About the anti-LGBT comments I will explain them one by one:
Mean girl at school: Unfortunately they are still used as mean comments at school and the girl is reprimanded by her teacher despite what the video says
(Small tangent: I didn't watch 'Insatiable' because it was too crazy for me but I don't find the fact that everyone treated Patty different after her losing weight because it happens in real life.)
Sierra being offended by people thinking she is a lesbian: It's bad but she must be kinda tired of being mistaken for a lesbian although she could have had a better reaction. I don't know how this is any different from Clay on the 13rw season 1. I didn't see anybody talking about that.
Victoria's mom: I'd like to give you my interpretation of this character. She was incapable of keeping her husband and I don't know if she either blames her looks it if she gained weight after he was gone but either way she focus a lot on her daughters' appearance because she wants them to be able to have success with the boys because she wasn't able to. Basically she doesn't want her daughters to make the same mistakes she did. She doesn't care about what her daughters want because she is projecting her wishes on her kids.
It's very clear for the audience the first and last behavior is wrong because it comes from to characters that are not depicted as good.
I chose not to talk about the hermaphrodite topic because I don't have a lot of knowledge about it and I am afraid I might make a misinformed comment.

I love this movie i probably cried when i heard that song im a sunflower well some people says they dont like the movie but i love it but i dont really like why she faked that she is veronica but i know veronica did put her number there cause sierra is a loser and loser only hangouts with losers but veronica is a loser now too but they are friends but in the end wont tell you guys whos reading this cause it might include spoilers but overall i rate the movie 9.5/10
When I was a teen I talked to guys and girl online a lot because I was embarrassed to talk to guys and girls in real life because I’m bi, I was going through puberty and I actually developed a hair problem, most girls don’t grow hair like I do, I got made fun of in school, I started shaving young but the hair still grew back fast and it was dark, I always looked like I had 5 o clock shadow, it’s not the same problem Sierra had but everyone has things they look at as huge flaws especially when they are young so I understand why people sometimes catfish and realize later the error of their ways, if someone doesn’t like u for who u r and accept your flaws then what’s the point?
