Chapter 1148 (Review/Final Results Edition)

"I wasn't expecting the new chapter to come out this early, but I still say it is enjoyable, especially when it comes to what the ending has to offer!"

The latest chapter kicks off with the Wano mini-arc Yamato, Ulti, and Page One are on their way to Hakumai to return to Kawamatsu the hat entrusted to them by Tama.

The chapter starts with Gunko who pushes Ronja toward the edge of a cliff, heightening the tension among the children. Ylva says, "You're right above the Underworld! Come back, Ronja! This is dangerous!" But Ronja stays calm and composed, turning to reassure the others. Ronja says, "Everything's fine! No problem!"

Gunko leans in to Sommer. Gunko whispers, "The first child is ready to fall." Sommer replies, "Perfect! Make sure all of Elbaf hears this voice!" He declares, "If in 30 seconds you still haven't made a decision, I'll drop the first child! Jarl with the Peak Beard! Give the order to burn the school and the library to the ground!"

The giants are thrown into a heated debate. One of them shout, "This guy is insane! The library holds the knowledge of thousands of years!" While another says, "But these are children's lives. We have to stop their twisted game!" Another voice adds, "The issue isn't their demands—it's whether or not we surrender to monsters like this!"

Meanwhile, the story cuts to Robin speaking to Chopper. Robin says, "You need to stay here and hide. Don't fight them." But her tone shifts as her resolve hardens. Robin declares, "I can't control myself anymore. I'm going to attack." Then we hear Nami's voice in the background. Nami says, "Even the worst people don't take children hostage."

Ripley, Franky, and several giants spring into action. They split into groups to rescue the children.

Sommer continues speaking, and says, "For one simple reason—what we want to destroy... When you burn the school and the library, ensure not a single book survives. Your culture and your history!" Robin suddenly attacks, using "One Hundred Flowers."

A swift hand appears, striking Sommer in the face. He falls forward, but Robin immediately follows up with "Four Hands," gripping his neck and trying to snap it.

She hesitates for a moment. Robin thinks, "We can't beat him... He's immortal." Sommer rises again, cracking his neck back into place. Sommer says, "20 seconds left before the first hostage falls." Usopp exclaims, "He's... he's a zombie!" A bold move, Robin grabs Sommer with her full body and leaps off the cliff.

Sommer shouts, "You trying to kill yourself?! I ire your conviction. But I have no interest in ing you in the afterlife!" Usopp yells, "Robin?! What is she doing?" Robin responds, "I know full well you're immortal! But if your cursed invisible thorns vanish—we can still save the children!" Sommer retorts, "So you think if I fall into the void, my power over them disappears."

He attacks—but it's a clone. Robin breaks away to start untying the crew.

In the background, Sommer's voice echoes. Sommer declares, "10 seconds left. I need an answer, Jarl! Gunko—make them hear the child's voice!" Gunko says, "Say something." Ylva speaks, "Lord Jarl, I love school. I have many friends there. I love the library too, because the books teach us about the world. My teacher taught me we shouldn't bother people—or do things they don't like. If the school and library must disappear so I can survive, I think that would hurt everyone. Please, Lord Jarl, don't worry about me."

Ylva trembles, tears streaming down her face. She adds, "I've been lucky." Sommer counts down, "Three. Two. One!" Jarl orders, "Burn the school and the library."

Just then, Sommer grabs Robin. But something's wrong—his hand is severed, and this time, it's not growing back. Sommer, shocked, says, "It's been a long time, Gaban!" In a stunning frame, Gaban slashes Sommer across the chest, using Haki. The final shows Gaban—angry, resolute, and the chapter ends!

My thoughts & opinions of the chapter:

If Sommers does have a history with Gaban, then it's no surprise that we will eventually get a flashback involving the Roger Pirates' encounter with the Holy Knights in God Valley (unless they had multiple encounters besides that). However, assuming we do get it, then will it give us a fully proper explanation on why Roger & Garp didn't allow Rocks to have his way with the World Nobles at the time?

My final results of the chapter are:

- Mindblowing fights/moments (10/10)

- Hype Bulid ups for the story (10/10)

- Ability to theorizes future events (10/10)
