Energy and Divination

I recently did a general tarot reading for someone I had just met a day or so before. I’m not a fan of general readings as I prefer a specific direction to go in. For example a general reading regarding finances, or a career, etc. The seeker couldn’t give a more specific direction to go in, so I had to do a general read.

According to this person the reading was scary accurate and they just couldn’t believe how I knew what came out in the cards. So like any reader I just said “The cards know.”  

Couple of days after that, we were discussing energy in regard to tarot. They asked if a person had to “open up their energy” in order for the reader to get that accurate of a reading. For example if I read someone and they didn’t know it, would the reading be as accurate.

I couldn’t answer them. All I could say was “the cards know”. So my question for all you readers, is does a person have to consciously allow themselves to be read in order to get an accurate reading?   It was a good question and I had never really thought about it.

The more I think about the question, the more I don’t think a seeker has to “open up” their energy in order to be read, yet I also recognize that some people are difficult (for me) to read and others are very easy.

By the way…this question applies to all methods of divination, not just tarot. I was using tarot so I have referred to tarot. Other forms of divination can be used interchangeably with tarot.
