This might not work for you specifically but it did for me when I first brought my three boys home!- putt non sweetened joghurt or pudding on your fingers and let them lick it! They get used to your hands this way,and it’s also very effective in bonding! Unless they mistake your finger as a sausage :sweat_smile: I have a boy that always does that,but when he was small (pre teen) he licked ig instead of biting so maybe give it a try!
Open the cage door, make a way down and up for them, and just.. sit there. Let em get used to you before you start trying to pick them up. And if you do think you can, dont force them into it. Just offer you’re hand daily, and eventually they will learn you aren’t going to eat them. Also, keep away from sudden movements. They think you might be a predator after them. If you grow impatient of trying to gain their trust, rats aren’t for you. They take months to get used to you. Also wear long sleeves because they have claws and if they climb on you’re arm it hurts. Also, females are less social then males.
