non invasive methods of orally medicating

•spoon

•plate

•on a cracker

•on a treat

invasive methods of medicating orally

•syringe in the mouth

•eyedropper in the mouth

•anything forcefully in the mouth

Mixing a drop of syrup with medicine dose (successful trick)

Mixing the dose with baby foods or sauces (works sometimes)

spoon trick - rats are more likely to take medicine if given the opportunity to do it themselves and not forced as this can traumatize them.

if using fluoroquinolone antibiotics such as baytril, ciprofloxacin, and so on. DO NOT MIX WITH DAIRY! (Yogurts, milks, cheese, etc) AS THIS WILL BIND TO THE DRUG LIMITING ITS EFFECTIVENESS.

THIS CAN HAPPEN WITH OTHER MEDICATIONS TOO.

Always provide a probiotic course after any antibiotic course to healthy stomach bacteria maintenance. Either 3 hours before medicine or 3 hours after medicine.
