The deliberate descent of the sand swallows my feet while memories bite into my mind

Overflowing with regret

Spilling with hope

Chaotic thoughts reign supreme

My failures are an aristocracy

In this macabre monarchy

Burdened with the feeling of incompetence

Berated by the pain of decadence

Beaten as the joust degrades my resilience

Broken until my masque is fleeting in the distance

My tears reflect the hollow surface of the sand

My body is becoming one with the land

The earth will me

But I will forget myself
