I didn't really watch the direct. It came on while I was asleep. I just watched the trailer.
So, apperantly we're in a school? And we're doing a treasure hunt. Across the region. That's not very realistic to just have your students travel across the country to find items, but okay.
Usually, in treasure hunts, you have to find specific items. Is that what we're doing here? To beat the game, you have to find specific items? Or do you literally just go around and search for random things that look cool?
Either way, basically the game is just exploration. And were we seriously only introduced to 1 new Pokemon in this trailer?
My main question is... ARE THERE GYM LEADERS? I don't think there are, and if not, I'm actually fine with that. I don't think this is that kind of game, and that's ok.
And also this "crystalizing" thing. What's that about? I think it's supposed to be the new gimmick? And there was something that looked sorta like a Max Raid battle, but with this crystal thing.
It's weird that the Pokemon centers are basically gas stations. And it looks like you get the legendary Pokemon fairly early. Obviously so you can explore the region, but still.
Pokemon is making a lot more Overworld games lately, with the SwSh Wild Area, and Legends: Arceus entirely. It makes sense, because you can do more on the switch. I haven't yet decided how I feel about this, but I feel like I'll grow to miss the old style of games. Although the overworld ones are really good, too.
Also, in the trailer, I saw Sawsbuck. Does this mean there are seasons again? Or is its appearance just based on which area you found it in? That would be lame.
Let's see... we already saw the rival, and the professors... oh yeah. This guy who tells you to do the treasure hunt? I assume he's the principal. I really hope that voice acting was only for the trailer. Something people want, but we don't really need.
I feel like there's more I wanted to say, but I really don't . So until I think of more things, I'm going to wrap it up right here.
Overall the game looks pretty fun and I'm excited to play it. It comes out a day before my birthday.

1. I mean I don’t think it’s unrealistic. The school isn’t like your typical regular school. It’s one where all ages both children and adults can learn about Pokémon. On the website it says most classes are Pokémon related with some classes being with Pokémon. I think sending students on a sort of quest to explore and discover the region makes sense.
2. No one is really sure what’s going on story and goal wise. Even in leaks this isn’t much info.
3. Actually we were introduced to 3 new mons. Cetitan, Fidough, and Paldean Wooper.
4. Gyms are in game but they won’t be your soul focus like in most other mainline Pokémon games.
5. Terastallizing can change a Pokémon’s type but only if it has that type as it’s Terastal type. From what has been said Pokémon with a Terastal type that doesn’t match their regular typing is rarer. Raids are similar to the ones in Sw/Sh but not exactly the same.
6. I like the open world change. I think it’s good for the series. Sw/Sh made a starting step with the wild area and even though it wasn’t perfect it imo made up for the fairly boring routes. Then it was upgraded with the dlc and enhanced even more with PLA. Apparently the whole region will be bigger than all 5 areas in PLA combined which is exciting.
7. I was super excited seeing Sawsbuck as it’s one of my favorite Pokémon. Seeing a seasonal change would be cool but there’s also a good chance that it’s just dependent on the area you’re in.
8. Disclaimer says that the voice over in the trailer will not be in game. So I doubt there will be full on voice acting. At most might be small voice lines like in New Pokémon Snap or Masters. I personally don’t mind not having voice acting though it can be a bit awkward with scenes like Piers’ concert.

There are gyms, 8 that can be done in any order. The crystalized thing is the gimmick and it affects typing and stab of pokemon and their moves.
The voice was for the trailer.. hopefully we do have va in the actual games cutscenes
