Both characters have the same goal in wiping out humanity in order to have a more beautiful world. It’s just that one uses an ancient weapon that needs either Xerneas or Yveltal’s power to power up the weapon and the other uses Zygarde’s power to eradicate the world. What’s the difference? I don’t get it. Btw, Lysandre’s goal isn’t really that bad or stupid. It made sense since the atmosphere and theme about the Kalos region is centered around the concept of beauty.

I don't have a favorite Pokemon villain but I've definitely noticed a rise in Lysander appreciation over the past 3 years... I think Pokemon Masters helped give more characters a personality n stuff
Because Anime Lysandre got development and screen-time whereas he was mostly absent in the games
So does Giovanni, Cyrus, and Ghetsis. They’re mostly absent in the games too. What makes Lysandre that exception to hate on?

Ghetsis doesn’t get much screentime to develop, and even then he’s a very odd mishmash of BW1 and B2W2.
Cyrus’ development was good for his character, and it showed another side to him that you don’t get to see in the games
Giovanni doesn’t really get development, since he’s ever rarely shown throughout the series aside from interactions with the Rocket Trio + the 2nd half of Unova. But he’s still presented as the cunning leader of Team Rocket that he should be.
But Lysandre? He’s different. He started out with genuinely good intentions of wanting to help people, but was corrupted by their greed into an unhealthy mindset. And although he’s not presented with that information at first, over the course of the series you see those intentions. Team Flare is also built up as a much greater villain team in the Kalos anime, so their threat feels VERY genuine.
Compare this to the games, where Lysandre barely got any development and only showed up…maybe 3 times and then he lore dumps for why he wants to reset the world. Anime Lysandre is built up more as a character, and as a result so is Team Flare. I like the Gen 6 games, but dear me Team Flare felt underwhelming.
In the Anime, each member is a lot more competent and aware than the games — ESPECIALLY the scientists — and it really makes you feel like something bad will happen.
wait people like lysandre's anime counterpart
I thought they felt the same way about that one
