Bow's mom is Professor Vera, (as in aloe vera

because we gotta stick to the plant theme but the only tree name I like is catalpa but I can barely pronounce it-) oof

So like last night at 4 am I randomly woke up and had an idea for a pokemon region because??? I'm weird??? So I was busy drawing fakemon and Bow's mom and stuff when my mom walked in to wake me up and we both screamed and why am I telling you this

I realized that like all the rivals since gen 2 aren't really...rivals? They're like your friends and it doesn't fuel you to beat them in battle and stuff and more like "oh ok lets battle I guess" so I thought

"hMmMmmm who would be the best rival...?"

I'm not lying I would be so motivated to kick Bow's butt in every pokemon battle I have against her

And continuing with old trends if Bow is the rival that means that her parent is the professor 'coz that's just how it is in the pokemon world

So: Meet Professor Vera!

Professor Vera studies the relationships and bonds between Pokemon. She's extremely analytical and doesn't care much for other people. She is extremely aloof and doesn't seem to have many hobbies. Professor Vera used to think that Pokemon were the only thing she ever needed in life.

Until she had Bow.

The main reason Bow thinks so highly of herself is because of her mother. She spoils her immensely and rarely ever disciplines her. She just cares too much about her daughter to ever tell her no. (She says it physically hurts her to do so????) Bow hasn't had many interactions with the real world due to her mother homeschooling her. Sometimes she lets Bow go out and catch pokemon for her, but she's extremely protective of Bow. That's another reason why Bow is part of team Magma, because Bow needed to learn some basic social skills and why not help a villian team, right? (Professor Vera is smart enough to know that neither Archie or Maxie will actually accomplish their goal, or at least to a point where it could harm anyone.)

Professor Vera has an extreme weakness for babies and baby pokemon.

Like you know how some people are when they see dogs? How they stop in mid sentence and go "oH mY gOd iS tHaT a DoG?!?!" And run over there to pet it? That's how she is with babies and baby pokemon, which is funny because its so unlike her usual cold tone.

She doesn't like talking to people older than her unless she has to, she thinks they're "worthy" of speaking to her, or they act a lot younger than they are.

Like Bow, Professor Vera is pretty arrogant (of course not as arrogant as Bow lol) because of how people treated her when she was younger. She was extremely ahead in school and because of this the other students and teachers praised her, which went straight to her ego. Of course, she may be book smart, but she doesn't have a lot of common sense. She has trouble with noticing social cues and in many situations that require a group tries to do them alone.

She's sarcastic, objective, cold, logical, efficient, but a prick.
