First, a short prayer written by me:
Perun, the great punisher of injustice, the one who protected us for centuries, our Zaštitnik, our Gromovnik. Please help me, your loyal follower, when i need it. As you have protected my ancestors in battles against their enemies, protect me from all evil, Perun of the Oak. Punish those who break oaths with me, for you have always been fond of justice and keeping promises. Gromovnik, King of the gods, thank you for being there for me.
Who is Perun?
Perun is a slavic god of thunder, storms, fertility, rain, law, order, and is often seen as a chief deity of the slavic pantheon.
Note: Slavic paganism doesn't have a one single pantheon. It is very much divided into different local variants. If i can say it like that. For example, it is believed that the chief deity of serbian Slavic paganism is Dajbog. And many deities who were predominantly worshipped in the territory of modern day Russia, for example, weren't widely worshipped in Slovenia, and vice versa.
Does Perun have a consort or children in the mythology?
While that is a complicated question... A lot of modern day pagans view his wife to be Dodola (also known as Perperuna) the goddess of rain. But it is debatable whether Dodola is a historically worshipped goddess, or just the name of the Dodola rituals that were practiced in ancient Serbia and around it. Maybe the rituals were named after the goddess? We will never know.
Children of Perun:
The topic of Perun's children is a similar situation as above. It is a widely accepted belief in the slavic pagan community that Jarilo (god of the spring and war) is Perun's son. Who was later kidnapped by Veles, the underworld god (who is often seen as Perun's brother). Sometimes, Morana is seen as Jarilo's sister and wife, hence Perun's daughter too. Logically.
But i also seeing a myth where Morana is the daughter of the Sun, and Jarilo is the son of the Moon. (But take that as a grain of salt!!)
Etymology of the name Perun and his Epithets
The name Perun comes from Proto Indo-European god Perwunkos (sorry if i misspelled that!!).
