The book I am going to recommend and endorce is Haitian Vodou: An Introduction to Haiti's Indigenous Spiritual Tradition by Mamba Chita Tann
There are many misconceptions about what Vodou actually is. This books explains them all and goes into much greater detail than I am about to go into when describing the book. Vodou in the Western Hemisphere organized in Haiti and than migrated throughout the Caribbean and to the southern United States. Most people do not understand that Vodou is a communal faith that is practiced by families and communities this is even true in Haiti where half the island practices Vodou and though Vodou in America is somewhat of a closed faith, this is not really true in Haiti or even in Cuba. Vodou is a closed faith in the US due to there not being many Ounfò ( temples) here in America and even for those who are relatively close to a temple they might not be able to get a community to allow them access to these communal services. Though if you belong to a different community usually a Ounfo will open it's doors to someone if he or she is known among the faithful. This book will teach you what the Nations are, who the various IWA are, where they originated, and the catholic saints that each Spirit is associated with. The book also explains the difference between American Voodoo, Haitian Vodou, Cuban Vodu, and the original Vodun practiced in west Africa in countries like Benin, Yogi, and Ghana. She even explains the difference between the Hoodoo that is not an organized religion and which is practiced in the southern United States. This Folk Hoodoo combines southern folk traditions & southern folk Herbalism, with Native American Herbalism, and some parts of the American Voodoo faith as well but this Folk Hoodoo is usually practiced in a solitary fashion and by 2 or 3 people at most. While Organized Hoodoo is nothing like the Southern Folk Hoodoo. Organized Hoodoo is practiced by the people of the Gallah Geechee Nation and is very similar to Vodou, the only differences being organized Hoodoo also incorporates traditions from southern Africa and traditions from the southern African American Church. She covers all this and a great Deal more. This is the perfect little book for anyone who wants to learn what Vodou really is, while also learning what it is not.
Herb magic is a very good reference book plus very good spells. I like the tarot for pregnancy has a lot of self care. Runic one is awesome about teaching runes rune crystals and their meanings and really breaks it down. The young witches guide is a very good starter book my daughter loves it, reference stuff, how to’s and spells, the last book is a very good starter book as well.
