So my rabbit, oliver needs a play mate as he is becoming depressed as I’m not home as much as I was before and have school soon.
I brought his up for the 100000th time to my guardian. Shockingly she agreed but said, I need to REHOME all my animals (rodents = my mice and 3 rats) in order for her to consent to getting him a buddy. I love my animals so deeply and don’t know the right decision??
Rehome my animals I’ve became so deeply attached to in order to made sure one doesn’t get depression or keep them and risk his depression getting worse? Rehoming sounds like it’s what needs to be done but I’m heartbroken.. can I have some advice??

Idk much about mice but I know rats grow very attached to their owners, there was one at a local shelter with PTSD from his previous owner dying. He was depressed wouldn't let anyone touch him without biting. Idk if putting more animals at risk is worth it? Maybe try to convince your Guardian into letting you keep your rats at least, as I'm guessing you have much more mice than Rats.
This is a really difficult thing. I would say to try getting him more toys and a stuffed animal and see if that helps. Also try taking him outside when you can before school. Try having him do things he hasn’t done or has rarely done and see if that helps.

Awww, that really is a hard choice. Try reasoning with your guardian. Like, go over the top! Make a PowerPoint about how much they all mean to you. Come up with compromises and loopholes! Like you’ll pay for the new bun or stuff like that.

That sounds like a reasonable idea, and I’ll definitely try that, it’s the rats she dislikes but they mean a lot to me, and ill have to try my best to convince her

Alright, let me know how it goes! I’ll try to come up with ideas as backup!
