Hello everyone! Welcome back! :dizzy: :sparkles:
Today I’m going to be talking about hooded liter box’s!
This is google’s definition of a hooded litter box:
•DescriptionAmmonia is a compound of nitrogen and hydrogen with the formula NH₃. A stable binary hydride, and the simplest pnictogen hydride, ammonia is a colourless gas with a characteristic pungent smell.
Lennon the bunny a common YouTuber, says they are great! But it’s very conversational topic in the bunny community. Now why is that? When rabbits pee it creates ammonia! So when the rabbit is in a hooded litter box, the ammonia gets trapped!

The gasses that then become trapped are very poisonous and even sometimes deadly to rabbits. We make ammonia and so do rabbits, and pretty much every small animal.

As you can see the gasses from ammonia are very toxic to rabbits! Ammonia can also be found in your average dog or cat.
No hate on Lorelei. I love her channel, but this is my thoughts.
ALL INFORMATION WAS FOUNG ON GOOGLE, and from doing other research!

I think hooded litter boxes are good for safety and comfort.
My bunnies and I love mine. I’m not worried about deadly gases- they hop in and out, they are not confined, and it is open to the air.
I think they're great! I got this huge one and I personally prefer it without the flap for rabbits
My cat has to have hooded ones otherwise she flings litter everywhere :joy:
*Granted most of my rabbits just have the regular, unhooded kind
I personally think that they are better than the unhooded ones because they have more personal space and that can dig all they want with out making a mess.
If you get one with high enough sides then you don’t need to worry about them digging :) My bunnies have two giant unhooded litter boxes and they can actually both fit in one at the same time :) You just need to find a big enough one
