Please note this post is for SHORT distance traveling ONLY!
First off, you need a carrier.
Second off, you need a little bit of hay to munch on during the ride.
Third, you’re going to want a portable water bowl and a water bottle.
Ok, so the first thing you need to do is open your carrier and put a little hay in there. You don’t need a lot-only a couple little handfuls!
It works better if you have a little hanging bag to put it in!
Next, fill up your water bottle. This will securely hold water. When I say bottle I mean a human one, not a pet one. You will later pour water into the bowl for your pet.
Load your rabbit in to his or her carrier. I suggest picking them up carefully (see Lennon the Bunny’s YouTube video about how to properly pick up a rabbit) and setting them gently in the carrier. Don’t forget to close it!
Now take your rabbit in the car, on the enger side! It’s very important that you can look over at your bunny quickly during a red light or traffic. Don’t look at them for a long time or attempt to open the carrier to pet them and comfort them. Pull over and get out if you plan on doing this. If someone is riding with you, they can hold the rabbit’s carrier and comfort him or her.
You’ve reached your destination!
If you can trust your bunny, let them out for a minute to pee. If not, consider taking a small exercise pen with you.
Unfold your portable water dish and pour water into it. This will make sure your rabbit stays hydrated!
Please be sure to drive safely!
