It doesn’t help that pet shops it as being appropriate.
It takes time, I got my bunnies with no idea, they were together in a 2 story cage.
They have had many designs since then, especially when all separated.
What I have now, I hope to be a permanent set up.
Same here. I've owned rabbits all my life but, they usually roam the house. Now that I'm in an apartment with a jackrussel who's bipolar around my bun bun I had to move to keeping him in a cage so it was hard for me to learn how to do that. He used to be in a 31 inch long 13 inch wide ~ now he's in 61inches wife 74 inches long area. I'm happy he's happy but upset I didn't do it sooner.

I know the feeling :blue_heart: but he is happy, and gorgeous too! His home is so soft and cosy, and more toys for him to tear apart :joy:
I've done that myself... and I regret it so much. My rabbit lived in a very small cage for about 2 years of his life before I knew you need to make your own cage to fit there needs
I had him in there with a pine bedding for a year, and wasn't very active with him therefore when my I moved in with my mother again she started holding him for the 5+ hours while I was gone therefore he bit me when I tried to touch him because of how much neglect he faced with me. He became my mother's rabbit even though I adopted him. I then moved out a few months later and he went back to being in the small cage but I tried to interact with him more. About 40days ago was when I removed him pine bedding and gave him a small but bigger setup. Then I let him own my room. At these points I still wasn't TOO interactive and I'd flinch or jump away when he came close to me, not wanting to be bit. Now, he owns half my room and i interact with him a lotttttttt he hasn't bit me in a while and I'm used to his kisses now. I regret neglecting him so much since if all I had to do for him to love me was, to love him I would've been doing it from the start. (Oof I feel like a horrible person)

Everyone makes mistakes. I have made more than 10 mistakes with olaf over time. I have also used cedar shavings that gave him respiratory problems and stuck him in a small cage. Don't beat yourself up about this to much you didn't know and if you did you wouldn't have done it. This is part of the reason I tell everyone to do research if they are getting new pets so they don't make big mistakes or any mistakes at all. Just that all of us make mistakes.
