Theory - Has Archie always been in love with Betty?

Here I am with another theory, this time I want to talk about a theory concerning an old episode (in season 2) which however "repeats" itself even at the end of season 4: basically if you in 2x5 Betty must break with Jughed because Black Hood oblige to do it. She tells Archie to get Jughead away from her because she wouldn't be able to tell him. When Archie goes to Jughead, though, he tells him that Betty has wanted to break up with him for weeks or something like this, but in reality Betty just wanted to get away to protect him and he also added that Betty didn’t want to see Jughead ever again, which wasn’t true. So either Archie was angry, or deep inside, he loves Betty (in fact, 4 episodes later they kiss). Then in season 4 he realizes he likes Betty, but she rejects him because she loves Jughead. And also, before in 1x13, after Veronica and Archie told Betty that they had kissed a couple times, Archie goes to the Blue& Gold to talk to Betty and to ask her if it was really all right about him and Veronica dating and then he said something like "But a little part of me always thought..." but Betty interrupted him before he finished the sentence saying something like how lucky they were to had found the right people they love or something like that. And maybe Archie has always, unconsciously, liked Betty, in fact he wrote her a love song in 4x18, and if you he never wrote a song for Valerie, Josie or neither for Veronica, but only for Miss Grundy and Betty, the "forbidden" loves because Miss Grundy was her teacher and Betty is his best friend‘s girlfriend.
