Hello!

I haven’t posted in a while. Here are some basically Algebra notes on how to convert Standard Form to Vertex Form! I even tried to make them look aesthetic and colourful!

Standard to Vertex

To convert from Standard Form to Vertex form, first make a small chart/table on the side labelling the vertex and a, h, and k. Fill out what you know.

You should already know what “a” is because standard and vertex form both have an “a”.

Then, use “a” and “b” to figure out the Axis of Symmetry or “h”.

-b/2a = h

Now you know both “a” and “h”. In order to find “k”, just plug in “h” as “x”.

Vertex = (h,k) so now just put that in and you have your vertex.

Finally, just plug in a, h, and k in Vertex Form.

Vertex to Standard

Converting Vertex Form to Standard Form is easy. Just FOIL (First, Outer, Inner, Last) and add k. And then you’re done.

All done.

These simple steps will take you far into graphing parabolas. You’ll be able to do it in no time!
