About the Game
"Silent Hill :tm: The Arcade", first revealed at Konami's Japan Arcade Operator's Union trade show in 2007, is a first-person arcade cabinet rail shooter. The game itself makes a tremendous departure from the Silent Hill :tm: series' known third-person view survival horror mechanics during gameplay.
Silent Hill :tm: The Arcade, at the moment, has never been officially ported to consoles or PC, making it extremely rare and a valuable item. In February of 2014, however, an unofficial fan-made port was made for the PC; Setting up the PC port of the game can possibly prove to be difficult, as it requires some knowledge for arcade cabinet emulation, as well as specific PC-related specs, such as a monitor that s 640x480 resolution. The port, notably, is NOT Win10 compatible.
The Gameplay
The Arcade's gameplay is very similar to the popular arcade series, "House of the Dead" - one/two players use handheld light guns to aim and shoot enemies, while shooting away from the screen reloads the players' weapons.
In certain locations, such as in Brookhaven Hospital and Toluca Prison, the player will be presented a choice of desired route to travel. Alternate routes can sometimes lead to easier battle sequence or stronger weapons, such as the shotgun or the rifle. During these brief intervals, the player must make the choice of their next route before the time limit expires.
Each player builds a score during each of the game's chapters; Players' scoring is based on kills, duration of time spent during gameplay, etc. Gold and Silver Coins can be acquired throughout each level, that raise and increase the players' score count.
The player(s) is given a choice of two seperate playable characters, Eric and Tina; If the game is played in single player mode, a second player can gameplay at any time, and will take on the role of the previously unselected character.
Gameplay progress can be saved via an e-Amusement .
The e-Amusement & Saving Data
Within Asia - Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore and Taiwan - a special "e-Amusement " can be purchased and used, allowing players to view "Silent Hill :tm: The Arcade" Global Ranking Statistics, as well as allowing the option to replay or altogether skip stages previously played and finished.
