Welcome to Beyond The Grave, where I present a concept for a Spirit to the game! Basically, I’ll go over what kind of spirit it will be, its attributes, its star rating, the slots/cost, and what kind of battle it will have! I’ll also give a brief overview of who the character is. Let’s begin.

My mind may be dead but these shades are Gucci.

The Legion of Stationery are a series of bosses from Paper Mario: The Origami King. Despite them being a prominent force, the actual name of the group is only said twice. Once during the fight with Colored Pencils, and once before the fight with the last member. Each of them guard the end of one of the streamers (Except the last one). While the concepts for the bosses may be silly, since they’re just real-world objects, the fights themselves are really fun.

That being said...

Spoilers for the near endgame of Origami King!!!

I couldn’t find PNGs for any of the except for Colored Pencils, so I just went for consistency on this one.

Jean Pierre Colored Pencils the 12th is the first member of the Legion of Stationery you fight. He guards the Red Streamer on top of Overlook Tower. He can fire his pencils from the lid as if they were missiles. He does so on certain spits on the rings by targeting them with a reticle. When he’s at critical health, he starts spinning his pencils in order to fire a huge beam.

Effect: Fire/Explosion attacks have increased power

Stage: Lumiose City

It’s a little difficult to come up with spirits for inanimate objects, but I’ll try my best. I’m thinking the best fighter would be Snake. You’ll fight against 5 Snakes total. Four will spawn at the start of the battle. They’ll all favor Side B, which has increased power. Occasionally, bombs rain down from the sky as well. When the four Snakes are KOed, the fifth spawns with a fully assembled Daybreak, to reference the spinny laser thing. KOing this Snake wins the fight.

The Rubber Band is actually just a singular giant yellow elastic strap. Like those weird bracelets that are super cheap that are handed out at sponsored events. The Rubber Band guards the Blue Streamer in Shogun Studios, and likes to put on a show. It likes to fire its bands at the rings, at the cost of its health, which force Mario to change direction.

Effect: Less Landing Lag

Stage: Suzaku Castle

I’m thinking the fighter should be Pichu, and the only reason is because the Rubber Band damages itself every time it uses its rubber bands. Pichu will be giant during this battle, and will taunt at every occasion, since Rubber Band is an entertainer. Pichu will have reduced defense when at critical health.

The Hole Punch is a rave machine. He’s holed himself up (Get it?) in the Scorching Sandpaper Desert Temple with a bunch of toads he kidnapped. He also punched out their faces. He forces the DJ toad to play some tunes while he jams out in his locked room with the Yellow Streamer. During the fight, he can punch out sections of Mario, which result in Mario’s Max HP to be lowered. He can recover these sections after a while when they’re scattered on the rings.

Type: Primary Defense

Stage: Mushroomy Kingdom

This one is difficult, I’ll it. I’m thinking Corrin would be a good puppet, since his attacks are kind of pokey, you know? Pokey attacks put holes in things. Idk it makes sense to me. Corrin will have increased defense during the fight, and you’ll occasionally take 30% damage to represent the Hole Punch lowering Mario’s max health.

Tape probably receives to most flak from the community, since it’s just a tape dispenser. He even says right before his fight “You think I’m some sort of joke, do ya?” Tape guards the Purple Streamer in the Great Sea. The fight starts off with Mario destroying the dispenser with his hammer, until the roll of tape puts on the thing that cuts the tape, and the real battle begins. Tape rolls around the stage taping the rings together, so that some of them will move together.

Effect: Sticky floor immunity

Stage: Pirate Ship

The fighter you face will be Wario, since Tape’s personality is that of like a vulgar gangster of sorts. Wario favors Side B where he rolls around on his motorcycle, similar to how Tape rolls around to dispense tape in places. The floor is also sticky, because tape. Wario is also weaker to Fire attacks, since Tape is weak to the Fire Vellumental.

The Scissors guard the Green Streamer in Bowser’s Castle, which has crashed in the Shangri Spa above the Sea Tower. When Mario and co approach the castle, The Scissors waste no time in flying out and cutting poor Bowser Jr apart. When fighting the Scissors, it wants a proper fight, so it puts on some guards that cover its blades. After a while, it unsheathes itself and prepares multiple cutting attacks, which can instakill Mario.

Type: Primary Grab

Slots: 🛑🛑🛑

Effect: Made of metal

Stage: Castle Siege

To represent the Scissors’ twin blades, you’ll fight against two Chroms. They’ll be equipped with Death’s Scythes. Both of them will have reduced attack power at first, but that will disappear when they take 50% damage. When they do take 50% damage, you’ll immediately take 100% damage, putting you in instakill range of their Death’s Scythes.

Finally, there’s the Stapler. It guards the Origami Castle, and is basically the guard dog of King Olly himself. The Stapler is responsible for stapling Bowser so that he keeps his folded form. When fighting Mario, it has limited staples to use, and Mario can remove more staples by hitting it. Once it’s out of staples, it has to reload. During that time, Mario can unleash his deadly attacks.

Rating: :star: :star: :star:

Type: Primary Neutral

Slots: 🛑🛑🛑

Effect: N/A

Stage: Princess Peach’s Castle

Since the Stapler is supposed to be a mad dog, I’m thinking the fighter should be Wolf. I know that Wolf is more intelligent than a dog, but I also need some wildness in this battle. Wolf will be equipped with a Staff, which represents the staple gun. Pitfall seeds will also spawn occasionally, since the Stapler has an attack that pins you to the ground.

I hope you all liked this concept! If you have any suggestions or requests, feel free to leave them in the comments or on my wiki! I’ll be sure to give credit to you!
