Sooo hello my minions with dominant hands I'm here to bring you a blog about your single sided brains and how it effects your performance in smash. And I'm only talking smash 4 cause melee its not in my mind much of a question that being a lefty is better in melee.
DISCLAIMER!!!
I am NOT saying if you are left or right handed you have these pros and cons I'm just saying that it is more likely you have these pros and cons.

~~Right handed pros~~
Now to start I can safely guess about 90% of people reading this are right handed and the lazy people in that group will only read the first two sections of this blog...*sigh*
So being right handed gives two perks in smash 4.
The first perk is that making inputs though the c stick is much faster. The c stick input speed is so helpful as it allows for fast aerials and tilts to come out more quickly than that of a person who can't move their right hand as quickly and precisely.
This on the other buttons of the gc control only really helps the pressing of the Y button. The reason for this is that B, A, and X all just require a finger roll which is plain reflexs and not a semi-precise high speed movement making it less important to have a dominant hand for those inputs.

Pro control benefits more buttons so you know

Now the pros don't stop there as the brain also plays a part in this. Now for those who don't know the right side of the body is controlled by the left side of the brain and the left side of the brain is more logic, reasoning and data based rather than sporadic, creative, impulsive and insightful process of the left side. This means if you are left brain dominant (which most right handed people are) you will tend to play with more a data and logic based approach, Much like zero or Mr r who play heavily based on stuff like frame data, logical and patent neutrals. The frame data part means the player knows how to deal with specific attacks and how to punish them. Logic in this case means the same as before but with approaches and neutrals and reasoning goes with logic and is thinking about the more reasonable approach based on logic.
~~Right handed cons~~
Now dispite sounding good like anything being right handed in smash much has it's weaknesses and in this case those weaknesses are movement, sporadic gameplay, and also adaptability. Now let's go over each con.
Movement; ok this is more a melee thing but still applies in smash 4. Being left handed can give you better control in your movement as it allows for you to move using your faster and more precise hand so being right handed can be a disadvantage in movement.
Sporadic gameplay; this is/can be an issue depending on your playstyle. Some players/characters should just play/be played more sparadicly resulting in you or your character not being able to reach its full potencial.
Adaptability; this is not as big of an issue as most of the time it can be logically addressed but if not then you must be able to adapt effectively in and out of the neutral especially if the opponent plays sparadicly.

~~Left Handed pros~~
Now onto those in their right mind 🤔 ...well at least 63% of them or somthing like that will utilise the right side of the third brain over their left but in this case unlike last time the hand plays the more important role here.
Now the brain dominance is helpful but not as much as that for right handed people for two reasons. First off not all lefties are right brain dominant meaning they are left handed but think the same way a left brain dominant person does. And second is that this side of the brain gives insight and creativity but while helpful are not as well used in smash outside of combo creation (not that that's not important...)

Now for the hands well it's got one very apparent advantage and that is movement. Your speed and accuracy when moving will be far better than that of if you are right handed giving you an advantage in movement. Now how big this advantage is depends on a few things. First is that fighter you play as movement based fighters like fox or sheik will benefit more than someone like bowser or rosa. Second is your opponent as some players will have a hard time with the speed and others won't care depending on their playstyle and fighter making this scenario very matchup dependant.

~~Left Handed cons~~
S P I R A L N O T E B O O K S ! ok anyways... there are A few cons here. Now unlike left brain the right brain does not have as notable cons so ONTO HANDS!
Now this is the disadvantage. The slower pressing of the y button and c stick on the gc and the slower pressing of all the right buttons on the pro control which well.... is on that control a huge disadvange. Overall the drawbacks depend on the favored control as they are much less apparent on the gc than the pro control.

Fun fact: I have a strange mental "problem" so I naturaly don't have a dominant hand and I only favor left to develop that side of my brain. (Ok enough about me)

Ambidextrous pros
Now this is the most interesting part about this blog. Now being ambidextrous generally means you are just as good with both hands and you suck with both hands. Now this means that in smash you will have the advantage of both left and right handed people but simply not be quite as fast. So faster than non dominant but slower than dominant.
Now brain is the biggest advantage here as being ambidextrous gives the advantage of both sides of your brain being very well connected giving you the advantage of both right and left brains without the disadvantage. Overall this is an extremely helpful trait in smash and any game and really just in life when it comes to thinking.
Ambidextrous cons
Well there's only two small cons here and they both are kinda the same... that is the advantages that you gain from each hand and brain will not be as strong as the advantage you would gain from one hand. However you counter this by not having the weakness of the other non dominant hand meaning that this con Is really just a con by perspective.

Conclusion/Outro
Now in my opinion I personally think the greatest advantage is being ambidextrous BUT I'M KINDA BIASED overall I would say that by control you will get a small advantage from being left handed on the gc and a large advantage from being right handed on the pro control.
Now I suck at outros so I guess this is good bye and I'll see you next time (in a few days) with another smash bros blog. BAIII!

I'm a lefty and I seem to use the left side of my brain more than the right side.
40% or so do that unlike righties who 98% or so use left
I’m ambidextrous and I’m fast and good with pretty much any control scheme although n64 is my favorite in the entire series to use
Time to bring out the good ol dk bongos I guess

Yes
I'm right handed. I've always felt like one of the reasons I have such bad SDI is because I have to do it with my left hand, which isn't very quick. However, I can get out of grabs pretty fast by mashing buttons (with my right hand)
Yeah I get what you mean... both my hands are slow help me
You can sdi with c-stick
