(Yo thanks so much for the feature and the praise in the comments, I don't know how to express it, but it means so much to me.)

Heyo, Contos here with yet another Moveset for you all, and before I start I want to say I plan to be making a lot more of these movesets with hopefully really good quality ideas. So yeah let's get started.

:arrow_backward: Introduction :arrow_forward:
So I've always been a Pokemon fan, ever since I was like 5 with my Pokemon Black game. Now don't get me wrong, I am hyped for the new games, Sword and Sheild, and yet dispite the excitement over the new Pokemon, there has been one guy from Alola that has interested me, and overall fascinated me recently.
And that guy would be the Hard Scale Pokemon, Golisopod!

Now why am I so interested into this Pokemon, well, first off, he looks sick af, like seriously look at the absolute size of this lad!

And besides that, I just really like the design and idea of Golisopod, so I'm making a moveset for him. He could also work in Pokken, but I have NO idea how to make movesets for that game so I'll stick to Smash. Also for those who may be wondering, I am not going to be putting in stats and frame data (except for a few moves) because that stuff is a nightmare.
Also one more thing, this Golisopod isn't just some random Golisopod, oh no, this is in fact Guzma's Golisopod. Guzma is one of the antagonists in the games and anime. Though Guzma's Golisopod does have a specific moveset, I'm going to be taking some expressive liberties to make some of his moves work differently or give him moves Guzma's Golisopod didnt have for the sake of making him work in Smash better and making him more fun in Smash in general. Also, as much as I would've absolutely loved to implement as much Guzma into this moveset as possible, I frankly will own up and say I don't really know anything about his character, so yes I am doing this character a great disservice and I apologize.
(Also this isn't the first specific Pokemon in Smash, as Greninja is believed to be Ash's Greninja and Lucario is believed to be the Lucario from the movie, "Pokemon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew", and there's Pkmn Trainer which I mean, obviously.)
So yeah uh Jim pull up that ToC.

:arrow_backward: Description :arrow_forward:
This entire description is from Bulbapedia so yeah, I did NOT write this.
Golisopod is a large, arthropod Pokémon with a hunched, humanoid posture. It has a pale purple body covered with silver armor plating. It has relatively small head with bright purple antennae that converge with its mandibles to form a mask around its eyes. The eyes themselves are black and angular with light gray pupils. Behind its head and curving down its back are several armor plates, each with a long protrusion curving up from each side. There is a small, greenish triangle marking on the center of each plate. Most of its lower body is exposed, but there is additional armor resembling a loincloth around its waist and smooth pieces encasing its thighs and feet. Its feet each have a single black claw. Golisopod has three pairs of arms. The two foremost pairs are thinner, encased in silver exoskeleton, and each is tipped with a single, black claw. The hindmost pair of arms is longer and have much larger forearms. These large forearms both have three overlapping, armored plates on the back and two black claws. The plate closest to its claws is plain, while the last two each have two greenish, triangular markings.
Full credit to random Bulbapedia editor.
(Now back to the shit that I wrote)
Golisopod is a bug/water type, which makes sense, seeing how he is based off of an Isopod, but on steroids. The water typing comes from the fact that Golisopod live underwater along with Wimpod, its prevolution.
Now despite how violent it may look, Golisopod are very tame Pokemon, as according to Pokemon Moon's Dex entry, "It battles skillfully with its six arms, but spends most of its time peacefully meditating in caves deep beneath the sea."
Even though Golisopod live a peaceful lifestyle, there should be no reason to doubt this thing's power. As described in Pokemon Sun's Dex entry, "With a flashing slash of its giant sharp claws, it cleaves seawater—or even air—right in two." I mean I'm no scientist but being able to slice air in half has to be pretty powerful. (Like I know that doesn't sound that cool, but like think about it if the air stays cut for like a second or two . . . fuck that still sounds lame uhhhh.)
To add on to this beast's power, it also is extremely sturdy, with Pokemon Ultra Sun's Dex entry saying, "The shell covering its body is as hard as diamond. This Pokémon will do anything it takes to win." Hard as diamond shell, though a common thing to find in Dex entries, is impressive.
(Fun Fact: In the anime, Golisopod blocked a Z-Move with just the armor on it's hind arms. No pokemon move or anything, just natural guarding.)
But yeah with all that out of the way, let's get started on the moveset.
(Also real quickly cause I don't know where else to put this)

:arrow_backward: Build :arrow_forward:
No this is not a gimmick, rather, I want to use this section to explain how Golisopod would feel to play, and how his hitboxes and stuff are layed out, how he's built, you could say.
So first off, Golisopod is a heavyweight, not a super heavyweight, but definitely noticeable. This means that Golisopod has very good defense and offence, but has slow walking speed and mediocre running speed in exchange. This makes Golisopod feel similar to Bowser in this manner, though most of the weight is up in Golisopod's top half, making him feel as though his running should lead into a heavy move.
While in the air, Golisopod has slow speed and, like mentioned earlier, is a top-heavy character, making his drift feel off.

:arrow_backward: Neutral Moves :arrow_forward:
Notice: whenever I say "right/left hind claw," it means which hind claw Golisopod uses changes on what direction he's facing.
Jab
Golisopod throws a left hook with its right hind claw, and then follows up with an uppercut with the left hind claw.
- Jab 1 deals 4.5%
- Jab 2 deals 4.7%
- A full hit deals 9.2%
- Jab 1 can jab reset
- Jab 1 sends a little forward, can't kill
- Jab 2 sends a lot forward
- Kills around 140% at ledge
Dash
Golisopod takes a large step forward with his right foot whilst holding his right hind claw out. As he falls forward with the right foot stepping forward, Golisopod slashes horizontally downward to the left with the raised claw.
- Deals 13.4%
- Sends horizontally forward a lot
- Kills around 85% at ledge
Ledge Attack
Holding the ledge with both hind claws, Golisopod lets go and then slashes across the stage with his right hind claw. He then proceeds to crawl onto the stage and stand up right.
- Deals 4.2%, can't kill
:x: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :white_medium_small_square: | :arrow_right_hook: :leftwards_arrow_with_hook: | :white_medium_small_square: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :x:
:arrow_backward: Grab & Throws :arrow_forward:

Golisopod lunges both of its hind claws forward, if successful, then he will hold the opponent close to its body, to where the other 4 claws could reach the opponent.
- Decent range
- Pivot and Dash grabs have insane range
Pummel
Golisopod pokes the opponent with all 4 of it's smaller claws. This is somewhat fast.
- Deals 1.2%
- Can get in about 12 if they don't mash
- Can get in about 4 if they mash
Forward Throw - imian Style
Golisopod holds the opponent in his right hind claw in a football-throwing position. He then, as you'd guess, throws the opponent forward in a slight arc, like a football. This move is called "imian Style" due to imian being a Pokemon that has the appearance of a rugby player, which is football (basically), they are also from the same region, Alola.
- Deals 13.4%
- Kills around 90% at ledge
Back Throw
Does the same football throw as forward throw, but turns around while throwing.
- Deals 14.5%
- Kills around 75% at ledge
Up Throw
Crushing the opponents with both hind claws, Golisopod crouches and then throws the opponent up.

- Deals 14.3%
- Sends upward
- Kills around 170%

- Big knockback growth
- Has reverse Staleing/Every successful hit in seccesion increases the damage by 1%
Forward Air
A simple downward swipe in front of Golisopod with his right/left hind claw. Similar to Bowser. Unlike Browser though, the swipe hits below Golisopod due to him losing his balance from the momentum of the swipe and leaning forward and down.

UnCha = Uncharged
FuCha = Fully Charged

:arrow_backward: Specials :arrow_forward:
Neutral Special - First Impression/Poison Jab
This Neutral Special is two moves in one, because "First Impresstion" is a one time use, with "Poison Jab" filling in the spot.
First Impression:
Covering a large area in front of Golisopod, Golisopod, when the b-button is pressed, will teleport in front of the closest person hit by the move, and will deliver a quick devastating punch, though it takes 33 frames for the punch to come out so it is reactable. However, there are quite a few rules to this move that make it not so broken. First off, it can only be used once a game, it also has to be the first special move used that game. This makes it similar to how it works in the games, it must be the first move used while Golisopod is out, and if it is, then it will give Golisopod and your team and huge lead. This move will not kill at 0%, though, if positioned correctly off stage, it could. Call this gimicky if you want, but I feel like it would require lots of skill to actually land despite it being both a homing attack with a huge hitbox.
- Deals 56.4%
- BIG BOI KNOCKBACK
- Insta-breaks all shields
- Sends at a forward arc
- Kills around 35% mid-stage
Prepare yourself lmao

Poison Jab:
A replacement neutral B for when First Impression has been used. Its a simple move, Golisopod pulls back its right hind claw as it starts to glow with a green bubbly aura, Golisopod then launches the fist forward, delivering not much damage but large knockback, along with the poison affect. Takes as long as a Falcon Punch to come out and has a slightly smaller hitbox.
- Deals 14.3%
- Applies poison affect for 5 seconds
- Posion does 1.2% every second
- Kills around 60% mid-stage
Side Special - Pin Missle
Golisopod crouches down, and a cluster of 5 dark green energy missiles come flying out of Golisopod's shell in an arc, eventually slowing down to the speed of Snake's Nikita after 33 frames. This move has a lot of versatility, cause if you just tap side-b, and then let go, the missles will quickly explode after leaving Golisopod, making them a good "get off me" option. However, if you hold down the B button, then they will continue traveling and will explode when you stop holding the B button. Also, their trajectory can be adjusted by holding up or down with the right joy stick.
Golisopod is still able to move while controlling the missles, though his options are limited due to him not being able to use specials without detonating the missles. I also feel that this is obvious but the missles will explode once they hit the ground.
- with the missles deal 1.4%
- The missles' explostion deals 16.6%
- Kills around 90% mid-stage
Up Special - Liquidation
Golisopod surrounds himself in water and throws his body in any direction, leaving a wide trail of water behind him that acts as a small windbox surrounding the stream, but will also apply poison to anyone that gets directly in the stream. Golisopod himself is a big hitbox that is active for the whole move. Liquidation is an omnidirectional recovery similar to the Spacey's in the sense that it's omnidirectional, and it doesn't have a second chance like Pika or Pichu's. Liquidation however does not have much startup, and it goes a large distance.
- Golisopod deals 19.2%
- Travels 3/4 the distance of FD
- Initial hit by the stream deals 0.7%
- Poison lasts for 5 seconds
- Poison does 1.2% every second
- Golisopod kills around 90% at ledge
Down Special - Iron Defence
Golisopod tucks its claws and head in while his body starts becoming a reflective steel color, after 1 and 3/4 seconds, his body becomes completely steel, a couple of blue rings will circle Golisopod and then he returns to his normal colors and stance with a faint blue aura around his body, this increases Golisopod's Defence Stat by 1.5 each time it is used.
:x: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :white_medium_small_square: | :arrow_right_hook: :leftwards_arrow_with_hook: | :white_medium_small_square: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :x:
:arrow_backward: Playstyle :arrow_forward:
So yeah, we have a very powerful Pokemon to work with, known for being pretty tanky in the games, with an extremely high attack and defence stat, while being extremely slow. So I would move this into his playstyle. Playing somewhat similarly to Bowser but using First Impression to get in advantage and deal some massize damage.
Without much combo potential on most moves, Golisopod would have to rely on landing powerful attacks through reads and tech chases. But Golisopod can also go for an early game First Impression to try and get early game stocks. Though this can be turned around due to Golisopod being combo food due to his weight and size.
In some case scenarios, Golisopod can use Pin Missle to try and ledge trap or 2 frame. He can use his big aerials to approach along with First Impression if that is still an option. Golisopod can be challenging when he approaches because he can mix it up and go with his fast nair or fast up air.
Now one final thing to this is First Impression. Due to how big it's hitbox is, it creates a tech situation first thing in the match. Such as if you dropped down, then Golisopod could read you and drop down aswell and use it. Or for say you could jump but the Golisopod would've already dropped and used the First Impression, but since it didn't hit anybody, it's now gone.
:x: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :white_medium_small_square: | :arrow_right_hook: :leftwards_arrow_with_hook: | :white_medium_small_square: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :x:
:arrow_backward: Final Smash :arrow_forward:
Wimpod Scatter
Golisopod zooms forward, and anyone hit by him get stuck in a cutscene that starts with the opponent sinking underwater, and then the camera looks over to Golisopod meditating in a near by cave with his eyes closed. Golisopod then opens his eyes with a sharp glint in them. Suddenly, a whole bunch of Wimpod come runnung out of the cave, and then surround the sinking opponent and start atracking them from all angles. They then disperse, and Golisopod teleports to the opponent and delivers a devastating First Impression.
- Dash deals 3.5%
- Wimpod deals 25.8%
- First Impression deals 45.1%
- Deals 74.4% all together
:x: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :arrow_backward: :white_medium_small_square: | :arrow_right_hook: :leftwards_arrow_with_hook: | :white_medium_small_square: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :arrow_forward: :x:
:arrow_backward: Alternate Costumes :arrow_forward:
Now here's the fun part, alts. Most of his alts are based off of other big and bulky Alolan Pokemon btw.
Def-alt

His normal look, with a dull eggshell white shell, a grayish purple body, purple antennae, and dark, mossy green tringle patterns around his shell and hind claws.
Shiny Alt

Golisopod gains a slightly more shiny white shell, along with red antennae and sharp blue triangle patterns.
Oranguru

Golisopod gains a Royal purple shell with the triangle patterns alternating between a light orange and a light blue. He also now has light orange antennae and a white body.
imian

Golisopod gets an extremely dark gray, almost black shell with a white body, along with green antannae and orange triangle patterns.
Turtonator

Golisopod gets a red shell with a beige body, along with yellow antennae and dark brown triangle patterns.
Bewear

Golisopod gets a pink shell with an extremely dark brown, almost black body, along with white antannae and white triangle patterns.
Melmetal

Golisopod gets a golden shell with a silvery and shiny gray body, along with black antennae and the same silvery and shiny gray for the triangle patterns.
Guzma

Can we get an F in the chat for that quality.
Golisopod gets a black shell with a white body, along with golden antennae and white triangle patterns.

:arrow_backward: Conclusion :arrow_forward:
Well um yeah, that's the end of this Moveset, and damn does it feel good to say I'm finished with this thing. I came up with the idea back in like June and dang I can be really lazy so this has taken far longer than I anticipated it to take. But anyway, I hope y'all enjoyed reading, and see ya til next time.

Golisopod squares up :triumph: :triumph: :triumph:
Probably one of the most fun to read moveset concepts I've seen, great job!
Thanks!
Despite the fact I have little to no interest in using this guy in smash, I absolutely loved how this was written, well done! You've broken my years of lurking!
Thanks, and your welcome
Does Metal Slash instant ko Iron Defense Golisopod
And who is Spacey
That's a neat idea, but because Iron Defence only makes Golisopod look iron for a third of a second or about, I'd count it as just a color affect and not a property change.
Also "Spaceys" is the term used to describe Fox, Falco, and Wolf.
Golisopod is basically my favorite pokemon so this is very cool to see. Nice job!
