How To Get The Dair Kill As Tink

Here, im just gonna cover in what situations you can dair AND get a slick af spike from it.

I rate each of the 5 ways to get a dair, and the criteria I base my ratings are Execution, Safety, and style! Style is actually unimportant but I threw it in their for funsies xD so don't take anything completely to heart when I talk about style points ~

Straight up Dair offstage

Execution:

Yeah. Just go offstage and press down and A at the same time. Or if you have tilt/smash stick, press down on that while offstage. Yepyep. Can't explain this any other way I believe...

Safety:

lol. Not safe whatsoever unless you're pulling the hardest of reads. This works better with conditioning, like if you jump offstage and always attempt an edgeguard with fair, and so next time you go offstage the same way, but use dair when they wanna airdodge your fair.

You can also make this kill safe, but not the way you think. If you and you're opponent are at high percent, but you yourself have a stock lead, then yeah go for a semi calculated dair. Its safe because you can still net a kill with backthrow, or bomb to fair, relatively easy if you miss dair. Please keep in mind that your opponent may always bring it back, to the point where you regret wasting your stock and rage.

Style:

0 style points imo. You got a spike which is cool but its nothing hype or high level, unless you have that ultimate read I mentioned earlier. Like, if you catch a Bayo's side/up b while they recover, and if you time it right, you will clank with the Bayo. HOWEVER, the Bayo will be spiked and you will be hit out of dair. Other weird clanks like this exist, and can be hype, but otherwise its just a normal spike. Getting like a double spike, now THATS hype!

Bomb Into Dair

Execution:

Near the ledge , if you hit your opponent with bomb while you're above them, you can true combo into a spike. (Only applicable if you aren't too high above them, or if they're at too high percent where you'll have trouble hitting dair.)

Safety:

This is relatively safe, if you can pull off the combo. It's even safer since its a true combo. Sometimes you may end up plunging towards death, other times you're able to land on stage just fine. Sometimes, you may also end up using dair preemptively, while they just shield and watch you die....

Style:

Congrats~ You acheived a stylish combo. Don't get carried away. It won't be hype as lets say, a Falcon Punch offstage. But it would be pretty hype. If you land on stage after a successful spike, feel free to taunt.

Foostool into Dair + Bomb into Footstool Variation

Execution:

When offstage, you can plan for a footstool, and once you get one go for a dair I M M E D I A T E L Y. They usually wont see this coming, but if they do, they can drift left or right to avoid said dair after a footstool. (Don't quote me on that.) If you can, you can try to bomb them from above to footstool and then dair.

Safety:

Hard to say. You need to commit a lot for this option. Worst case scenario is you dont get the footsool, and the opponent does a reverse edgeguard costing you a stock. However, most cases would be that they would try to airdodge expecting you to attack, so you'd get a phantom foot stool.

Style:

Footstools make everything stylish. They're just that hype when you do a combo or kill setup. That being said, if you accidentally footstool, don't try to dair lol. Only do it if you're CERTAIN it will . Planned footstools are easier to connect because you have full intent of your actions.

Bomb Juggle Dair

Execution:

Some of these dair setups are ez pz lemon squeezy but this combo is just difficult difficult lemon difficult. Trust me.

First, you gotta learn how to bomb juggle, if you haven't already. I won't explain it here cuz theres at least 15 youtube videos for it.

Once you know how to bomb juggle, simply practice catching bomb with dair.

Next part. In training mode, do the bomb juggle dair variation once you have your opponent offstage. If done correctly, the bomb will explode after you spike, and you'll be able to use your double jump and then up b to the ledge.

Its good to note that if you're playing on a long, box stage (Duckhunt, certain omega stages) then you can use a walljump yo aid your recovery.

Safety:

Not safe whatsoever lmao. To do this in a match you'd need to practice this extensively, and know the timing when to perform the dair. You may end up dairing without grabbing a bomb, or dair but not have the bomb go off in time, etc. Its safer to just z drop a bomb. :p

Style:

You went offstage, went deep, and got a slick af spike, and then made it back onstage no problem? daMN SON.

If you dont then just leave my life rn. On top of that, getting this type of dair is pretty hard to acheive, since its kinda high level and has almost 0 scenarios where you'd use it. But like dammmmnnnn. Its hella fancy and everything smh. Im also making this sound cooler than what it really is lol oops.

Trump into Dair + Tether Trump Variation

Execution:

Once your opponent is offstage, you can go and try to trump them. Afterwards you can sometimes get a guranteed bair, but it may not kill or even connect. If you pressure their aerial options, they'll be forced to recover low and regrab ledge. The major no no of this game is regrabbing ledge, so you can punish with a dair~

If you're bad like me and you can't pull off a trump 87% of the time, then just tether so you can trump. You can even do an instant tether trump, shown in this video:

Safety:

Certainly the safest out of all the other dair kills. Luckily, this one is also the MOST viable. The ONLY negative about it, is that you give up stage control (but thats literally with all dair kill setups I mentioned). They can buffer a roll but you'll be able to react with a boomerang/arrow or even a bomb if you have one on hand already.

I 100% recommend learning how to do this. Forget all the other dair setups minus the bomb to dair setup.

One way to make it even more safe, is to throw a bomb up near their ledge roll space. That way if they DO buffer a roll, they'll eat a bomb and you can capitalize on that. Or at least get back on stage safely. They may try to catch the bomb, so be wary.

Style:

Not as stylish as a foot stool or the bomb juggle bair, but its at least somewhat stylish because you can also use a tether to aid in trumping. If you want to taunt after this kind of kill then eh sure y not.
