Jurassic Park X Smash Bros concept

I fucking love Jurassic Park. It has been my favourite film ever since I was 5 and it has fueled my love for films and dinosaurs. This film means a damn lot to me so I got to thinking: what would Jurassic Park look like in Smash?

Disclaimer to the one guy about to comment "IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN DICKHEAD, JOG ON". I bloody know Jurassic Park will never in a million years get into Smash Bros, it isn't even a video game, but I think it's nice to sit down and imagine what it would be like IF it got in.

THE MUSIC

I, personally, love John Williams' music. He composed the Jurassic Park score and I think it's an incredible soundtrack. I will pick 6 scores from the film that I think work well.

1. End Credits

2. Hungry Raptor

3. Incident at Isla Nublar

4. Jurassic Park Gate

5. My Friend, The Brachiosaurus

6. Hatchling Baby Raptor

I think these scores capture the wonder of Jurassic Park so I think these are perfect picks for Smash. I wanted to put themes like "The Raptor Attack" but it is just too intense and sinister for a children's party game. If you can think of any better scores to add then be my guest but I think these 6 scores are great.

SPIRITS (FOR THAT ONE PERSON WHO CARES ABOUT THEM)

The T-Rex (you may know her as Rexy)

Rexy would be a primary spirit with a power of 12,342 at level 99.

You would get 2 slots and she would provide a large boost to claw (and teeth maybe) based attacks. The most obvious use of Rexy is on Wolf to make his ridiculous smash attacks even more ridiculous. Rexy definitely won't be the best primary spirit but I feel like characters like Wolf and Incineroar will benefit greatly from her

However, I feel like this spirit would only be useful to a few characters so if you can come up with some alternatives please share.

Ian "sister fister" Malcolm

Ian Malcolm would be a spirit taking up 2 slot. When your damage is over 80% the Ian Malcolm spirit offers a great movement speed increase and increases the power of tilts. The reason behind this is because in Jurassic Park when everyone was in a pinch our friend Ian picked up a flare and used it to get the T-Rex's attention. He ran the T-Rex around a little bit and ended up escaping in a car. That's why the spirit offers a movement speed increase. As for increasing the power of tilts? I don't know I just feel like movement speed increase isn't a powerful enough effect for 2 slots.

New Character

There isn't one. I mean, come on how could I get a whole moveset out of the dinosaurs or the characters.

The T-Rex is too big (fuck off ridley it's a damn T-Rex) and would only have bites and claw swipes.

The raptors are the right size and would be agile but it's the same as the T-Rex, there is little room for actual moves.

Most of the human characters only ever have a gun so they would literally be punches, kicks and projectiles.

You may be able to get a moveset out of the Raptors, Owen Grady or even the pterosaurs but it would be hard to make it original.

Also no-one wants to read a fatty moveset blog.

MII COSTUMES QPCKFUWISKCK

Alan Grant

This outfit is pretty simple to do. It would clearly be a brawler outfit as Alan Grant never really wields any proper weapons. Maybe you could give him a flare and make him a swordfighter but I think that's a little reaching.

THE STAGES OIOI

ok so I may have had a few ideas for stages.... We'll start with the weakest idea and end on my main idea.

Brachiosaurus march

This is pretty much a copy of a Jurassic Park scene. This is the famous "welcome to Jurassic Park" scene. The concept of the stage is quite simple, the scenery will be the exact same as the film except, every so often, a brachiosaurus will march along the stage briefly, able to stomp on anyone on the stage.

It's similar to this shot.

I don't have a name for this one, maybe call it "Dinosaur Hunt" or something.

The scene I'm basing this off is the one from The Lost World where dinosaurs are hunted and captured.

It will take place in this kind of environment

It will be a normal stage with the ground covering the whole screen, leaving no room for ledges. There would be no platforms either. At intervals, dinosaurs like gallimimus and parasaurolophus will run down the centre of the stage, like the Mario Kart racers. They may be followed by motorbikes and cars as well. They will do different damage depending on what is hitting you but it will all be under 15% and they will all do medium knockback.

In rare cases, THIS MOTHERFUCKER WILL ROLL THROUGH AND FUCK YOU UP while chasing a pachycephalosaurus.

The Aviary

An aviary, for those who don't know, an aviary is "a large cage, building, or enclosure for keeping birds in." In Jurassic Park, the aviary holds the pterosaurs.

My concept is a stage held right in the middle of the aviary.

I wasn't able to find a picture positioned from the ground but the stage would look pretty much exactly like this, with the trees, water and the rock structures in the background. Try to imagine this picture but with the camera on the ground. The cage will go in an almost semi circle around the screen.

I didn't want to make a traditional stage so I decided to make a relatively unique one. The gimmick of the stage is that as you smash the fighters into the cage, parts of it break, which allow the fighters to be launched out. If you use a strong move such as a smash attack the opponent will break through the cage immediately and die as normal but with weaker attacks it'll take a couple tries to break parts of the cage. Obviously it would be separated into sections where if you hit any of that section it will do damage to the section as a whole.

In the background there will be pterosaurs flying around and sitting on the rocks. However, when you break a section of the cage, some of the pterosaurs will fly out of the cage.

I guess with hazards off, the damage system won't exist and people will go through the cage no matter what.

I've only just realised this sounds like a btec version of King of Fighters Stadium...

Shit.

The Five Deaths

The 5 Deaths is a group of islands off the coast of Costa Rica. It includes Isla Matanceros, Isla Muerta, Isla Pena, Isla Sorna and Isla Tacaño

Isla Nublar, the set of Jurassic Park is not a part of the 5 Deaths. I'm a big fan of Tacano and Pena, myself. The Five Deaths would be a transition stage, where you travel to each island starting north at Isla Matanceros and ending at Isla Pena. It will obviously loop. Before I get onto the islands, I should probably describe the stage in the transition stage. It will essentially be Pokemon Stadium 2, meaning there is 2 platforms level with eachother equally spaced on the stage. On the transition you will follow a helicopter as you fly along the ocean, with the Islands, pterosaurs, potentially some water creatures and maybe the boat from the start of Jurassic Park 3 in the background.

Onto the islands, which we are able to get a proper look at thanks to Jurassic World Evolution.

Isla Matanceros

As you can see, Isla Matanceros is a bright and beautiful island. You will land in a landscape with a pond in the background, with a T-Rex drinking from it, just like in the image:

This island is pretty basic so that is pretty much all I have to say for this one.

Isla Muerta

This island is absolutely stunning. In Jurassic World Evolution it is always dusk on Isla Muerta and it looks incredible.

The main gimmick of the island is that tropical storms take place there frequently so this part of the stage will be pretty chaotic. In Jurassic World Evolution, certain dinosaurs can enter a battle animation and can kill eachother. For example, a T-Rex and an Ankylosaurus might end up battling eachother at some point. I wanted to implement this into this part of the stage.

My idea is that it'll take place in an environment similar to the image. A tropical storm will be striking the island in the background and it'll be heavily raining, causing the dinosaurs to become rowdy. This means that 2 dinosaurs will be fighting in the background while you are fighting. So to sum it up, it will be heavily raining, there will be a tropical storm and there will also be 2 dinosaurs fighting.

Isla Sorna

This Island isn't that special, ittedly but we did see a lot of it in Jurassic Park 3. Isla Sorna is by far the biggest island so there are a lot of places I could have as the setting but I decided I'd reference a specific scene in Jurassic Park 3. At some point, the Spinosaurus attacks the boat that the protagonists are on and it was a really enjoyable scene to watch.

My idea is to have you positioned on the boat as the Spinosaurus to the left is attacking it, yes it is quite a large hazard but I feel like it would be fun. It would rock the boat slightly and attack the crane. Obviously, if you're caught in the attack then you're a bit fucked. In the film, a flare gun is used to set the water around the Spinosaurus on fire to help the protagonists escape so I had an idea to make a flare gun spawn randomly on the boat that you can pick up and shoot to set fire to the water. However, I'm not sure if that is too complex or not. It will be dark and rainy and you can drown in the water around the boat.

Isla Tacano

This is a pretty normal island with not much change so it is hard to come up with ideas for this one so it won't be as interesting as a Spinosaurus attacking a boat. I'd like to think this is a rest from the intense Spinosaurus attack. You land in a group of herbivores, peacefully eating vegetation and drinking from a small pond. The pond will be on the right and is able to be interacted with. There will always be a diplodocus drinking from the pond that you can also interact with. It won't hurt you, instead you are able to climb on it with no risk. In the background, there will be various ceratopsians eating vegetation such as Triceratops, Nasutoceratops and Pachyrhinosaurus. Also, on the stage there will be an aggressive Ankylosaurus that paces towards the far left of the stage. It will swing at anyone near it but the attack will be slow but powerful. Overall, it's a peaceful landscape except for the damn Ankylosaurus

Isla Pena

This is a very small island that is very challenging in Jurassic World Evolution. The setting would be a cliff off the coast of Isla Pena at night.

So, yeah that is my idea for the stage titled the Five Deaths. I really like it and it makes me gutted to know we'll never get to see it in Smash.
