The Golden Three headed dragon, King Ghidorah has many things that can be taken from films and games from the Godzilla Franchise in order to make a really amazing smash moveset. Since the majority of people in this community voted for King Ghidora to have a moveset, I am happy to finally be able to make hit happen.

Disclaimer

I am not going to list the frame data of any move I list in this moveset Idea post. I am not a game designer, so I will not be able to determine the statistics for each move that would be balanced. Frame Data is extremely important, but this is a move set idea, I am making an idea for the moves themselves, and not the things that can effect gameplay. Some moves might have an exception to this rule where I think it would make sense to explain it, like how I will explain how the move can be used in combat. The frame data will have no exceptions.

The post will be organized in the following fashion so if you want to skip ahead, you can do so.

Character Specific Attributes

In this section, I will explain certain things that King Ghidorah will have that most other fighters

do not have.

Flying Ability

Because King Ghidorah has wings, he will have multiple jumps, but he will also be able to float like Peach because he demonstrates this ability in the movies that he is in. This might make him have an amazing recovery in the game, but it can be punished easily if the opponent know what he is doing.

Moveset

Now it’s time for King Ghidorah’s moveset. Most of these moves will have references from the game “Godzilla Unleashed” because it has more moves than any other Godzilla game that can be transferred over to Smash.

Jab

King Ghidorah uses his three heads and bites his opponent using a different head to attack each time. The third head will knock the opponent back, and kill at high percents. Since King Ghidora’s heads are so long, this move can be used to space out your opponent.

Dash Attack

King Ghidorah lounges forward and attacks his opponent with all of his heads in quick succession, one after the other. The first hit of the move will confirm the enemy into the other two heads, and the third head will kill the opponent at high percentages. It can also be used as a combo starter, since it launches your opponent into the air.

Up Smash

King Ghidorah flings his tail upward and attacks opponents in front of him, while lifting himself a tiny bit in the air. This can be used to catch your opponent off guard if they decide to try to get behind you from jumping over you, and it can be used as a move to punish a hard read on your opponent.

Down Smash

King Ghidorah lifts himself off the ground and swings his tail 360 degrees around his body. This can be used to catch people who are hanging off ledge and have no more invincibility. It can also kill at high percents.

Forward Smash

King Ghidorah lounges forward and bites his opponent with two of his three heads. This can be used as a keep away move, and a kill move at high percents.

Up Tilt

King Ghidorah uses his heads and slams them on the ground, hitting anyone in front of him. It can be used to hit an opponent who rolled in, and it can be used to spike at if it hits the opponent at the start of the move.

Forward Tilt

King Ghidorah turns around and swings his tail at his opponent. It can be used as a keep away move, and also a damaging move when you get the opportunity.

Down Tilt

King Ghidorah stops his foot on the ground, knocking opponents back if they get hit by the move. Like Mr. Game and Watch’s down smash, it can bury opponents, but only if the opponent is hit closer to Ghidorah, instead of being father than Ghidorah.

Neutral Special

King Ghidorah fires an electric beam from each of his heads, dealing consistent damage when it is hitting an opponent. This move must be charged before being used by holding the special move button in order to charge it. To actually use the move, you need to just tap the button in order to use the charge you gained. There will be a special bar next to the character icon (like Little Mac’s KO Punch) that lets you know how much charge is available to use. There will be 4 sections of the bar, and if one section is full of charge, you can use the beam, but for a short duration. The more you charge the beam, the longer you can use it for. You can also use it in the air while flying.

Up Special

King Ghidorah flies into the air in any direction you want to face when angling the move. It can also deal damage if an opponent is in its path.

Side Special

King Ghidorah jumps in the air and lounges at his opponent and kicks them at full force with both of his legs. This move is a lock on move, and only hits the opponent that is closest to him. It can be used as a recovery move, and a move to break shields, so people don’t just shield it without punishment.

Down Special

King Ghidorah bounces into the air and stomps on the ground and damages anything in front of him. It can spike on its descent downward, and can be controlled to bounce up to three times if you down Special before the first bounce is over.

Downward Aerial

King Ghidorah stomps his foot and spikes any opponent under it. This move is similar to Charizard’s Downward Aerial, but due to King Ghidorah’s ability to fly in the air, this move can be very deadly in the right hands.

Backward Aerial

King Ghidorah swings his tail behind him like his his forward tilt, but is faster due to him being in the air.

Forward Aerial

King Ghidorah bites his opponents with two of his three heads, similar to his forward Smash, but since it is in the air, it can be really good for edge guarding.

Upward Aerial

King Ghidorah bites above him, catching anyone who is unlucky to cross it. This move can be good for killing people off the top blast zone, or catching an air dodge where an up smash won’t cut it.

Down Throw

King Ghidorah plants his foot on his opponent and shoots electricity at his opponent before the opponent gets launched away from him. This move can function like Bowser’s down Throw, where it functions as a damaging throw rather than a combo throw.

Forward Throw

King Ghidorah chucks his opponents away from him with one of his three heads. This can function as a kill Throw.

Up Throw

King Ghidorah tosses his opponent in the air with his middle head. This can be used as a combo throw.

Back Throw

King Ghidorah chucks his opponent behind him with one of his three heads. Similar to his forward throw, it can serve as a kill throw.

Entrance Animation

I wanted to give his entrance animation a separate section from the moveset because this is essentially bonus material.

The first animation is from Godzilla Unleashed. King Ghidorah flies in, and roars at the camera. In smash, the camera is obviously facing the stage and not in from of Ghidorah, so they might have to change it in order for it to work. They can speed it up, or do something different.

Alts

King Ghidorah has had many design changes over the years, so having Alts that allow you to choose what design you want would be really good for the character.

The default look for Ghidorah would be his design from the Heisei era of Godzilla Films. He has a golden exterior with scales all around him. This is the Ghidorah that people when they think about the monster. This design of Ghidorah was first seen in the 1991 film, “Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah”.

His second variation would be his design from the Shōwa series of Godzilla films. In this design, his wings were more curved, and had a some what darker color scheme. He was still golden, though it was more drab.

His third variation would be his design from an early concept version of the character. His wings were rainbow in color, and he had blue skin.

This is the early version of Shōwa Ghidorah

His Forth Variation would be a coloration of his partner, Gigan from the Shōwa era of films. Gigan was green, with a golden stomach, and sliver hook hands. This could translate well with Ghidorah’s design since it has gold already in it, and the silver can be translated to his head coloration, along with the coloration of his wings to be changed to green.

This is what Gigan looks like in the Shōwa era

His Fifth Variation would be his design from Legendary’s “Godzilla: King of the Monsters” Film. Although his coloration would not change much, his wings would be more rounded rather than curved, and his head design would change.

This is the Legendary design for Ghidorah

His Sixth Variation would be based on Monster X from Godzilla Final Wars. Since Monster X is just a Ghidorah creature before transforming, so this would work very well. The coloration would be mainly white and black, while the heads have red eyes.

This is what Monster X looks like

His Seventh Variation would be based on Keizer Ghidorah from the film “Godzilla: Final Wars”. Keizer Ghidorah is an evolved form of Monster X. His color scheme is black and gold, with many cuts on his skin.

This is what Keizer Ghidorah looks like

The eighth and final variation would be Mecha-King Ghidorah. I explain more about him in the next section.

Mecha-King Ghidorah

Mecha-King Ghidorah is a different character than King Ghidorah in the Godzilla Franchise. Mecha-King Ghidorah was created in “Godzilla Vs. King Ghidorah” film in 1991. This mech was made from the DNA used from King Ghidorah. He has a metal exterior, metal wings, and one of the three heads as a robotic head.

King Ghidorah Move Set Idea-The Golden Three headed dragon, King Ghidorah has many things that can be taken from films and ga
This is Mecha-King Ghidorah’s design

Mecha-King Ghidorah is essentially the same as King Ghidorah, but instead of shooting all yellow electricity beams, his robotic head shoots a purple beam while the others shoot the normal yellow ones.

This is what it looks like in Godzilla Unleashed

Mecha-King Ghidorah can essentially do the same things as King Ghidorah, so that is why King Ghidorah’s final alt is his robotic counter part “Mecha-King Ghidorah”.

Conclusion

King Ghidorah is one of the coolest Godzilla monsters in the franchise, and my personal favorite. He is a golden three headed dragon that shoots electricity out of his three heads. What’s not to love? He is a fan favorite by many and has appeared in many Godzilla films. If he was in Smash, I think it would work really well.

Thank you all for being patient and waiting for me to finish this post, and as always, thanks for reading, and have a great rest of your day.

This isn't bad, it's significantly better than the Godzilla moveset and you did a decent job with this.

Two things I think you could improve, however: first, the Specials are once again pretty underwhelming. You did a good job with Side Special, but the other three aren't very interesting concepts + you didn't really delve into what they're good/bad at and give reasons to use them like the other attacks. I think it's a character thing; some fighters simply have more unique potential than others, and if you expanded from Godzilla characters you could probably find a lot more good material.

Second, listing a general playstyle/what kind of character Ghidora would be is one of the best ways you could improve this blog. Telling the readers exactly how you picture this character fighting in the game, using which tactics and attacks the most, would REALLY help show that not only do you deeply care about this character but also that the readers should care that much too. Plus, it just generally makes the rest of the blog look better.

Not bad so far, but you still have a bit more work to do. I'm excited to see more from you!

Thanks for your !

First, the special moves were very hard to do mainly because there are only a few movies where King Ghidorah was in it. Since he does not show that much in of moves in the movies, it was very hard to get a source for it. The side and down Special were from Godzilla Unleashed, but since i was not able to add more pictures due to Amino not being able to load them, it was a problem.

Second, play styles vary from player to player. I cannot state that the character is supposed to be played this way if people enjoy playing him another way. For example, Snake was designed to use Grenades and space his opponent out with projectiles to beat him opponent. But, some people like Snake as a character, but don’t like the way he plays, but want to main him regardless, so they play more aggressive because they enjoy playing like that rather than camping the entire match.

There is only so much I can do with the material I am given, so this is what I made. I am glad you gave me to improve, but certain things cannot be improved upon if the character is already limited. I will try to give more in depth explanations, but everything else depends on the character

Which is why I'd recommend looking for more... diverse characters. You have quite a bit of potential, but you're gimping yourself by going with ones that mostly lack unique attacks and qualities.

I definitely think you did your best with what you had, but maybe a different character would turn out better.

That is a very good point. But I love Godzilla, and I want to show that any character can make it into smash
