So I’ve Been Afraid To Ask This Out Of Fear Of Judgement For Not Knowing Who This Highly Requested Character Is, But...-[IMG=

But in all seriousness, who actually is Geno? I feel like I only know the absolute basics on who this character is (from Super MARIO RPG, the first MARIO RPG, something something has a gun arm because that’s what the Mii Gunner has, that’s basically it). I keep having this feeling that I’m missing out on something absolutely massive and somewhat seclusive when it comes to this face. So to summarize:

1. Who is Geno in game? What is his role both in story and in combat? Why does he even Mario’s quest in the first place? What is his personality? How does he interact with the other characters in the game?

2. Why do people like him? What about Geno is so good/appealing? Also, why does it feel like nobody has ever expressed these reasons in the past? No offense to the fans, but I think that if people liked the character, they would have told me why. You don’t just describe your favorite movie as “it should get a sequel” or “why wasn’t it nominated for an Oscar”. That’s the impression that I always seem to get whenever people talk about Geno; it’s always about what they think should be instead of what actually is.

3. Why should he be a playable character in Super Smash Brothers? Why does he deserve this role over other characters from the Mario universe that are also popular requests, RPG or otherwise? What would he play like? What would be wrong if he were a non-playable status such as an Assist Trophy?

Sorry if this seems like a lot, but these questions as someone who never grew up on Super Mario RPG have been tormenting me ever since I found out that such a character even exists a few years ago, and I really want to understand where this side is coming from.

If you have a good video that can tell me this information, please feel free to share it.

Wouldn't it be better if you played SMRPG to answer these questions?

Geno in Super Mario RPG

His personality: he is usually serious but sometimes he is shown to laugh

His importance in the story:

Geno is incredibly important as he is the one who tells Mario about the Star Road and the seven stars, which is basically the reason Mario goes on the adventure

Geno and how he can be in smash:

Geno has many moves that he can use in his moveset

Geno Beam

Geno Blast

Geno Boost

Geno Whirl (Fun Fact: Geno Whirl is the strongest move in Mario RPG,doing 9999 damage)

And as a Final Smash: Geno Flash

Well, I understand who he is now and why he is crucial to the game proper and how he actually acts now. That is a good start; I now understand this character at least twice as much as I did before. However, I’m still not one hundred percent sure why exactly people like the character to this degree. I ask this because it’s not an everyday occurrence that a seemingly one-off character gets this popular. It’s as if there were some big event that caused people to fall in love with him, either in-game or some online thing, that I never got to experience in the same way. Sorry if I’m making out the liking of this character to be some kind of exclusive event, but that was just the impression that I’ve gotten for so long, and I feel that this feeling is bad, for the fans of Geno and myself.

Also, I think that I should have elaborated on my question on why he deserves to be in Smash; I understand that the concept of exclusive moves is important for some, but personally I’m more about the archetype; I can let some similarity in moves as long as the character in question represents something unique, or has a unique reasoning for sharing a representation. For example: I am okay with Corrin because they represent a shape shifting class, both in game and in-universe. Likewise, Lucina doesn’t bother me because she copies Marth due to both being ancestrally related and how pretending to be Marth is something she does in Awakening’s story. On the flip side, the reason why I didn’t Ridley was because I felt he didn’t have any unique archetypes, as there was both a reptilian major villain and pure dragon style featured in Smash prior. So I guess I should ask that: What kind of archetype, either in general play style or type of character, could Geno bring that no other character could? I apologize if it feels like I’m continuing to lay the questioning on thick; the more information you can bring, the better. Not to nitpick, but to understand.

He's the only fighter that can turn into a cannon

Geno Boost in Mario RPG raises attack and defense so yea he can be a fighter who can do that
