Daisy is a chipmunk faced roster filler from Mario spin off games as a parallel to Peach. The fact that they chose her instead of Waluigi is stupid. Both aren't great additions. But Waluigi is arguably more recognizable and beloved than Laisy.
They had the same chances to get in Smash,I agree with you with the rest you said.
Maybe Waluigi fan's were too aggressive to Sakurai and he left him as an Assist Trophy.
Or maybe the idea of Echo gave Daisy more chances to get in.
