The original history on it This stage is loosely based on the palaces of Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. However, there are a few clear references: the top left portion resembles the entrances to the palaces, while the building on top of the mountain in the background resembles the sprite used to represent palaces in The Adventure of Link's overworld. The palaces in The Adventure of Link are subterranean and somewhat labyrinthian, which is reflected in the stage’s layout.
