Sup, been a while since the last moveset hasn’t it? Anyways I finally played and beat No More Heroes meaning i’m in the mood to make that man a moveset. Unlike with the normal Pokemon movesets, Travis Touchdown here has a moveset to build off of, but it’s wacky. So before getting into the moveset, let’s talk about in-game Travis Touchdown, in No More Heroes 1 at least.

A lot of Travis’s attacks in-game are really long. His generic katana attack in-game goes on for actual centuries. He has a jablike attack you use for some of the jobs, but it’s again long. I’ll have to incorporate shit from within missions and the jobs. There’s also the problem of what katana to use, you get four different ones throughout the game. I’ll go with the Mark II katana, it’s the biggest and also my favorite to use. Now that all that is out of the way, le’s get this started!

All kill percents are from at ledge unless specified.

The Gimmick

Like in No More Heroes, attacks that use the beam katana use up it’s energy or meter. Every swing uses up one part of the bar regardless if it connects or not. I’ll explain this meter later on. For now just know that every sword attack uses up meter.

Jab

I went for the punch used for some missions, most notably Coconut Collector. Its the generic punch-punch-kick, but it’s actually punch-punch-punch-weak kick-strong kick. Yeah it’s one of the strongest jabs in the game. It comes out quick and does high amounts of damage and knockback for a jab. However, the attack struggles to connect at higher percentages. So killing with the move is rare. Still 18% off of a jab is absurd

Deals 2% per hit and 10% on the finisher which kills around 110%

Forward Tilt, Up Tilt and Down Tilt

Now here we have the generic katana slash. Except this is quite the set of tilts. They’re meant to combine into each other. Forward Tilt is a forward swing, Up Tilt is an upward swing, and Down Tilt is a downward swing. For example you can do forward tilt-down tilt-up tilt and mix and match this literal Build-A-Bear combo. All of the tilts send opponents in different directions too. None of the slashes deal much knockback at all, but they sure deal damage and can combo into non tilt attacks. Like heres a basic few: FTilt-UTilt-Forward Air or DTilt-UpSmash. They also offer insane shield pressure which is pretty broken, but again beware as this will burn a lot of your meter. These tilts are probably Travis’s best moves, so use them well.

Each tilt deal 7%

Dash Attack

Travis literally has a dash attack in game that is perfect for here. For his dash attack, Travis quickly lunges forward with an overhead swing that...that...uhhhhhhhhhhh. In game this is just as powerful as any regular ol katana swing, so it could lead into the tilts here? Nah, i’ll just make be a risky but really good kill option.

Deals 15% and kills at around 85%

Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

So Travis doesn’t have aerial attacks in No More Heroes 1, so I gotta make my own.

Neutral Aerial

Yeah i’m giving Travis THE nair. You know, THE nair. The almighty

SEX KICK

A.k.a Mario’s nair. I’m sure the second Travis finds out this move is called the sex kick he’ll immediately master it. Sure i’ll make the nair the same as Link nair so it’s broken.

Deals 12% at the start and 6% later on, and it doesn’t kill until 130%

Forward Aerial

Yeah sure Cloud forward air. It works well, and it would be a meaty spike, or just a satisfying kill move. I main Joker so I know both well.

Deals 17% and kills at around 105%

OR

Spike deals 22% and kills at around 30%. Rest of attack deals 11% and kills at 170%.

Up Aerial

Travis swings his katana upward like Link except Travis is holding it like he’s swinging his coc-ANYWAYS it’s a strong attack. If the land it near the hilt it deals even more damage and knockback.

Deals 18% and kills at around 115% when hitting an opponent standing on a battlefield platform.

””””Sweetspot”””” deals 24% and kills at 75% under the above conditions.

Down Aerial

Travis performs the suicide dair, aka he go down swinging. When in the air it spikes and when landing the attack is absurdly strong. Like it deals lots of damage and knockback and one hit kills shields. This is at the cost of using more a lot of meter when landing.

Spike deals 16% and kills at 60%

Landing attack deals 30% and kills at around 55%

Back Aerial

Travis kicks behind him just like Terry. It doesn't do much damage and knockback but doesn’t use meter so its useful for what it’s purpose is.

Deals 13% and kills at around 150%

Neutral Special: Katana Shot

Travis swings his Katana and fires a small projectile that explodes on . It uses meter and cannot be reflected back. It’s quick, strong, and useful. Although because it uses meter it isn’t spammable. This attack actually originates from what will be Travis’s final smash, but I don’t see why a weaker version can’t be used for an attack here.

Deals 15% and kills at around 130%

Side Special: Death Blow

Travis swings in one of four directions and attacks. Travis will move in said direction meaning this can be used as a recovery tool. This attack uses more than average meter and all directions but the behind direction deal the same damage and knockback. This track originates from the finisher attack used to slice people’s heads off and cut people in half. Except it doesn’t do that here of course.

Deals 18% and kills at around 120%

Backward version deals 22% and kills at around 100%

Up Special: Schpeltiger Ditch

Magically Travis’s motorbike, the Schpeltiger appears and Travis jumps off of it to recover. Travis has super armor for the first few frames of leaping of the Schpeltiger, and the Schpeltiger is a spike when falling. Travis cannot use this to recover again until the original despawns. When used onstage this move becomes another Down Special.

Spike deals 15% and kills around 75%

Down Special: Katana Recharge

Here we have it, one of the key pieces of Travis’s moveset. When you use an attack it uses your electricity/meter. You got to recharge that with this move, but how much electricity/meter do moves use?

Forward Tilt/Up TIlt/Down Tilt=3% 33 Use per charge

Forward Air/Up Air/Falling Down Air/Dash Attack/Katana Shot=5% 20 Use per charge

Death Blow=6% 17 Use per charge

Landing Down Air=12% 8 Use per charge

You wave your katana to get charge like in No More Heroes. Each wave takes 10 frames to complete, and charges 2% of the katana. So it’d take about 400 frames or 6 seconds to fully recharge. That’s a long fucking time in smash and is the equivalent of mining Diamonds with Steve. Just like with Steve, you can cancel this charge. Oh, and you can’t use any katana attacks at full power until it’s fully charged. So, what do you do? Well connecting any attack that isn’t jab recharges the katana 5%, and if you want more, lets move onto the...

Travis’s grab is unique, it only has one direction and has more startup than usual, especially for a not tether. So what’s the reward? The strongest back throw in the game damage wise. Travis literally has a grab and throw in No More Heroes, but most wouldn’t work in smash, and you also only have one direction there too. So for this back throw Travis does a similar back throw to Incineroar and it’s rewarding.

Deals 20% and kills at around 130% Also charges 10% of the Katana.

Smash Attacks

Forward Smash

Travis charges up a very powerful swing for his forward smash. It’s the charge attack from the game. Travis can slightly move while charging but not cancel the charging. The move is much stronger when charged.

With 0-49% charge it deals 11%, kills at around 160%, and uses 5% meter

With 50-99% charge it deals 22%, kills at around 80%, and uses 12% meter

With 100% charge it deals 44%, kills at 0%, and uses 25% of your meter

I’m gonna be honest and just skip doing up and down smash. They’re just weaker and less costly versions of his forward smash. I may as well copy paste it twice.

Travis’s final smash is Dark Side Mode. This has the chance to occur in game after killing someone. You roll a slot machine and get one of four randomly chosen modes.

STRAWBERRY ON THE SHORTCAKE!

Travis’s hair turns yellow and is now much faster. You can spam a more powerful version of the Death Blow free of charge! Move like lightning and obliterate everything in your path. Your katana is also fully recharged after this ends.

BLUEBERRY CHEESE BROWNIE!

Travis’s hair turns yellow and is now in place. Move the onscreen reticle to spam more powerful Katana Shot’s to annihilate any unfortunate to be onscreen. (This is where the ‘Katana Shot” comes from btw) Your katana is also fully recharged after this ends.

CRANBERRY CHOCOLATE SUNDAE!

The screen goes monochrome and time is slowed down. Travis can only move at a walk and when an opponent is near, deal 70% and massive knockback to end the final smash. Your Katana is also fully recharged after this ends.

ANARCHY IN THE GALAXY!

Travis will unleash a hot pink blast that covers the entire screen and instakills everyone. This only has a 4% chance to occur. Your katana is also fully recharged after this.

Strawberry on The Shortcake, Blueberry Cheese Brownie, and Cranberry Chocolate Sundae all have a 32% chance each to be chosen, while Anarchy in the Galaxy is a 4% chance.
