Hi guys! I've had a couple different ideas for diamond authorities and different courts, but I've kinda come up short after the most basic things... Does anyone have any tips/advice they could give me? I'd really like to flesh out my celestial authority and my circus themed court!
Thank you!

What's really important is to emphasize the structure of the court/diamond by establishing simple questions a reader might have like; why is _____ the way that is is? Or how did _____ happen. Key to good world building is making sure there are rules for the world, why are the rules the way they are, has everything always been like this, and why is the leader the person in charge and how did they get to that position. Also adding reason to who are the main people in this society and why they have their goals or aspirations.
hard to summarize succinctly but there are a lot of ways to make a more fleshed out colony / diamond :]
- How does the diamond rule their people, if at all? Are they considered an equal, a ruler, a god? Do they have a general relationship with their people (worship, rules through fear, well liked elected official)?
- how many planets do they have? What are they for (hubs of commerce, mining colony, colonies just for making new gems ...)?
- does this diamond interact with others? Do they have allies, enemies, clients, etc ?
- how does their own temperament affect their gems? A cruel diamond will make their gems rebellious, with corrupt elites. A lazy, impatient diamond may have gems with a lot more defects or irregularities. A gem who loves ocean life might incorporate those things into their own subjects.
Hope that helps
I'd say base them off a certain time period, or a region of the world
