Bee!!! (And Gemling Lore)

This a gemling custom I got from Eggkazoo

Did a few messy doodles of em aha don't judge em too harshly this is why I sketch traditional for comissions and stuff lmao can't sketch well digitally

I want to design them a sibling and then draw them once they reform BIG :D

I'm calling em Bulmblebee Jasper, but they'd go by the nickname Bee mostly.

I'm also working on my own version of how Gemlings work! I'll just lore dump about that here so I don't forget. Gemling lore for my au below:

Before the Diamond Authority began its grand colonization, gems reproduced in a much slower and complex way. This method required gems to make a connection, akin to that found amongst Fusions. Gemlings were byproducts of fusion, though the statistical probability that they are created is minimal. Being a species that is extremely long lived, this was necessary for the population to not explode. The probability that a Gemling will be created only exists when gems with different Hardness fuse, thus gems that are the same or too similar are not able to create one.

Once the Diamond Authority began focusing on conquering new planets, this method of reproduction was seen as inconvenient and undesirable. After all, if the gems involved in created a gemling were incompatible they could create gems that had no function or a gem that is already numerous.

Injectors soon replaced this method, and fusion was prohibited between different types of gems to avoid the probability of Gemlings all together. The Injectors were the superior method to create gems, the parameters of what sort of Gem and in what environment they were grown could be controlled as well as making mass production possible.

Gemlings differ from Injector made gems in that they create small and "unsightly" forms. Often they have traits most gems don't, like talons, wings, tails etc. The reason for this is that they are less focused and more emotionally and instinctively driven. Gemlings must be disciplined to be perfected, once their mind is matured enough they dissipate and reform with larger and more proper forms.

The corruption caused by the Diamonds on earth reverted Gems into an extremely instinctive form thus they resembled what traits they may have had if they had been gemlings, just more creature-like than gem due to the extent of that damage on their mind.

About Diamonds:

On the topic of Gem phases, in my AU Diamond's have them as well. However, Diamond's are never as uncouth as a Gemling.

Diamonds are capable of three Phases, called Instars. First Instar often has a very sweet and fantasy like look, they are the smallest a Diamond can be. Despite being freshly emerged, first Instar Diamonds have a fully developed mind like the gems made with Injectors. Pink Diamond was always a first instar Diamond. Unlike Gemlings, Instars are not independant phases, meaning they must be triggered by outside forces.

In order to achieve second Instar, two other Diamonds must together with the subject. The three diamonds must then reform while making , like hand holding. Yellow and Blue Diamond are both second Instar Diamonds, having been assisted by eachother and White Diamond to achieve that phase.

Third Instar requires three other Diamonds to with the subject in the same manner, the only third Instar Diamond is White Diamond. White Diamond was assisted by Yellow and Blue, but strangely enough was already third Instar when Black Diamond emerged and Pink is younger than that. This suggest there existed a third Diamond before them. The Diamonds have no memory of this third, but questioning it is extremely taboo. The knowledge of this process and its requirements are only known by Diamonds and a handful of very trusted gems however, so there aren't many who can even suspect there is anything amiss in that regard.
