Rose Diamond walked over to the large, misshaped incubators, and started to look around. He could see the squirming shapes inside them, and how they shook whenever someone got too close. This made him feel warm inside, almost smiling. But he didn’t smile. He just nonchalantly walked towards the gatherings of peridots, excited about the discovery his gems made. For the first time in 1788 years (Rose was counting), they had found signs of fertility in the ground. Which means that Rose Diamond could actually make gems by his own. This idea gave him a sense of independence that receiving gems from other courts didn’t give him. He excitedly stopped in front of the talking peridots, and crouched down to try get to their height. “My diamond! It seems as thought they will form any minute now.” One Peridot with bangs said. Rose diamond gave a warm smile, and turned to face an incubator, as it shook softly. Rose looked back at the peridots as they anxiously checked their calculations and awaited for something to happen. And something did happen. First it was a rumble, but then it came to a roar. Rose Diamond turned towards the incubator. It was violently shaking and making a high pitch sound now, the glass almost shattering. “My Diamond, move away!” A Peridot yelled. But Rose didn’t hear the cry. His eyes were glued to the disaster that was about to unfold. “My Diamond-!” The Peridot yelled again, but they were quickly interrupted by a high pitch squeal and the sound of glass breaking. Out came a disfigured form; it’s arms shaking. It even tried to take steps, but fails to do so, and fell over. Rose Diamond took a few shaky steps back, poofed, and slowly fell to the ground with an alienated grace.

“My Diamond, you must regenerate! Your people yearn for you to claim your throne!” Rose Pearl shrieked. Rose Diamond arose, his cape falling slowly behind him. He rubbed his head to cease the pounding headache that had started, “It was stupid for me to believe they could generate perfectly here.” Rose Diamond murmured. Rose Pearl stopped, and came to his side. She tried to lay a gentle hand on his leg, but he moved his leg before she could touch it. “What happened? After I blacked out I mean.” Rose Diamond asked, staring out the window. Rose Pearl hesitated, but hey, an order was an order. “The Peridots knocked over the rocks and trampled the gems, sir.” Rose Pearl said softly. The diamond waited for the follow up. “Not a single gem there survived.” She whispered. Rose Diamond held a hand to his mouth. A choking back of tears erupted from his throat, but it quietly transitioned to a gentle sob. Rose Pearl leaned against his bulbous legs as tears came out her gloomy eyes too. They sat in silence as tears plopped onto the cold surface of the floor, and as the gentle whir of the peridot sector was stopped.

So this story tells how the planet Rose Diamond inhabits cannot make gems. He’s tried many different things, but cannot seem to make a genuine gem. This makes Rose very sad that he can’t be as independent as his other sisters, but he’ll try anything he can to make his own gems. What he can do is make metal based objects, and objects that are quite unusual (will be explained later).
