EMERALD'S ODYSSEY

Chapter 3: A Warrior Pearl's Training.
"I'VE GOT YOU THIS TIME-" He Didn't have her this time, as Emerald was soon kicked so hard in the chest that he had flown and knocked down multiple large trees from his fast velocity. His sword flew from his hands and almost hit himself in the process as well. Emerald made a small, defeated squeak as he lay around the multiple trees that he had knocked down.
A certain mint pearl soon walked up to her as she had her arms crossed. She was trying not to giggle at her owner's bravado that led directly into straight karma. "...so, you had me?" she said a little bit snarkily as Emerald sat up. "Yeah, yeah. I know. Do you have to go so hard on me when we train?"
The mission had been going for a good 11 months straight now. The Emerald Twins' squad was able to assemble and start up the gem injectors that they had brought along; leaving them with a lot of free time while waiting for the first gems to emerge. "Do you think your opponents will go easy on you when they're trying to shatter you?" Mint Pearl had asked as Emerald looked back and forth for a moment. "...yes?" causing Mint Pearl to facepalm as she put away her sword into the gem on her left hip.
With so much free time for the two gems, Mint Pearl had decided to double up on his training. He still wasn't able to keep up with herself or his twin sister in combat. He had amazing potential, but he just was never able to break through his ceiling. "You know I was being rhetorical. Take this seriously-" the taller gem said as she then offered a hand to help her captain up. "come on Minty, it's not like a war is going to break out anytime soon. I don't think we've ever seen another intelligent species." The gem took her hand.
"What are you, a sapphire now with future vision? Since you're an elite, you need to be ready for anything that can happen." the gem stated as she pulled him upwards back onto his feet. She cared for her superior, But he didn't seem to be as mature as any other gems with his rank. Emerald then looked to the side with an embarrassed look on his face. "... I'm sorry. I'll try to be more open-minded. Can we go again?" The elite asked as she then gave a smile of relief.
"Of course sir. Just make sure to be more careful with projecting your attacks." The Pearl responded as she walked away with Emerald's sword. Soon throwing it back over to him. Thankfully it didn't impale him and poof him as it did during the last training session. "A-alright!" Emerald soon held the sword and got into a fighting position. His arms were stiff, but otherwise, he looked rather ready.
Mint Pearl soon followed suit, as she had gotten into her own fighting position. Her fighting style was very mature and dignified, with her holding an arm behind her back to almost show how much faith she has in herself in this fight.
The two gems dashed forward, swords clashing so hard that sparks had come from their collision. Mint Pearl quickly followed up with a barrage of slashes from different angles, trying to mix up different patterns that she hoped Emerald didn't expect. Emerald was quickly able to block all of the slashes as he swapped his sword between different hands to keep up. As the barrage of attacks soon ended, Emerald gave a small smile. Causing him to quickly respond with his response of slashes. Pearl was far more surprised by Emerald being able to respond after her barrage this time.
"You're keeping up better this time! Let's see if you'll be able to break my defenses, sir!" Mint Pearl had yelled out with excitement as she was happily put on the defensive. Emerald opted to use things like spins and hand alternations between which hand he was leading to try and throw her off. All the while Emerald was completely silent. 'He's definitely far more focused. Gotta stay on my toes.' the Pearl thought to herself as she noticed Emerald speeding up; almost as if he was becoming more precise with each attack.
The more and more Emerald's attacks persisted, the more Pearl went on the defensive. "I've got you on the ropes, what're you going to do Minty?" Emerald said with confidence, as Mint Pearl decided to finally go for her next attack. The next time Emerald swung his sword towards Mint Pearl, she quickly dropped to the ground on one foot; sweeping his legs right from under him. Emerald soon landed on his face with a loud thud, with Mint Pearl pointing the tip of the sword directly towards him. "That, that's what I was thinking of doing." the gem replied smugly as she had the biggest smile on her face. She was so proud of him for taking her advice!
As the Pearl extended her hand for him to get up, Emerald stood up on his own to show he didn't need to have his hand held anymore. "Emerald, I'm so proud of-" Minty was soon interrupted by a beeping noise coming from Emerald's communication device, Emerald looked at the voice message in surprise as it stated it was an emergency. He quickly opened it to hear his sister screaming incoherently towards the other gems in the squad.
"EMERALD! MINTY! GET YOUR BUTTS BACK HERE! WE HAVE AN URGENT MESSAGE FROM YELLOW DIAMOND!" The message quickly ended as the two looked at each other in surprise. What type of message was waiting for them? "Save that compliment for later. We gotta get back and fast!" The Elite said quickly as he ran off towards the location of their impromptu base. Minty gave a small sigh as she then quickly followed behind her leader.
