The soldiers who got reconstructed by Yellow Diamond:
These two are Flint and Chert!
On the official Steven Universe podcast, Flint and Chert were mentioned as original concepts for the group of Off Colors.
They were conscientious objectors to war and were outcast because they were Quartzes who didn’t want to fight. The idea was scrapped because a) they wanted the nature of Off Colors to be more about being outcast because of their inherent nature and not for anything that would be possibly interpreted as a choice or a political position, and b) there were already so many characters in the Off Colors group and one was as big as a building. (This was on the podcast Steven Selects Episode 8: Off Colors if you want to listen.)
And it looks like they’re very close! Awww cuties.
Here is a pic from one of Rebecca and the Crew's planning charts. At the beginning, Flint and Chert were part of the Off Colors!
We got a quick glimpse of them in “Homeworld Bound.”
What’s really sad about seeing them pop up there instead of just not be written into the show is that that implies they were shattered when they refused to fight.

Just noticed that the Rutile Twins had a third leg in that art.
I really love the dark blue/gray one so much. They look so freaking good.

One small thing I noticed is how Flint/Chert ( I don't know which is which :sweat_smile: ) looks when cracked. Kinda like Amethyst when her gem was cracked after she fell.
They are both cracked!
