The Jades from "Together Alone" seem to be one of THOSE couples....

You know, the ones who are always getting on each other's cases and giving each other crap.

It's part of how they flirt, how they bond, how they express intimacy. And it's really cute.

So I was thinking and I figured that their first fusion experience as :lemon: Lemon Jade :lemon: must've been...interesting...and decided they deserve a fan comic!

Hope you enjoyed that. It took me about 4 hours to draw traditionally using Copic markers and a digital background/digital talk bubbles developed in PhotoStudio.

I love how all the romantic fusions we've seen have been so different: Garnet, Stevonnie, Rhodonite, Topaz, and now the Jades. The show has always done an amazing job showing different kinds of relationships on a deeper level than just "Garnet is unique because she's a fusion of a lesbian couple." That's not what defines Ruby and Sapphire's relationship, and it's not what defines any of the other fusions' relationships either and I can't wait to see more development for them!

That's such a great observation! Thanks for leaving it here. Yes, every relationship is unique and they do a really good job on the show distinguishing them without tokenizing or stereotyping anyone. Have you read the fusion tie-in book? It goes over a bunch of different reasons to fuse and what the Gems experience in their relationships!
