:sparkles: Who is Doctor Prehnite? Tell us a little bit about yourself? :sparkles:

Hi my guys! I'm a hobby artist and deeply invested in storytelling. I'm a bit on the anti-social side but blossom in the right situations. I'm very ambitious, tending to bite off more than I can chew. I'm also a very "close to the vest" kind of person so I like to keep my personal life private.

:sparkles: How long have you been drawing for? :sparkles:

I don't think there was ever a point in my life I wasn't drawing. I'm sure I didn't know what I was doing at first, I just enjoyed the process of it all. I used to draw little doodles at the corner of my journals like a comic to tell a story. After discovering anime, it was a snowball effect on trying to hone any skill. Classes helped me understand important rules and methods and finally, I landed on a cartoonish/comic style.

:sparkles: What inspired you to begin drawing? :sparkles:

There's a very specific story for this. To simplify it, when I was very little I would draw a single eye and was greeted with praise from my older sister. She didn't know how to draw and it made little me feel like I had some hidden super power. It imbedded this deep craving for art since. What inspired me to get more serious came after a couple of art classes. My biggest inspiration/motivation by far is my boyfriend and the many stories we've crafted together.

:sparkles: What tools do you use? :sparkles:

ClipStudioPaint EX and my trusty tablet, IntuousProM paper. I filled more than enough sketch books using mechanical pencils, micron and prismacolor inking pens. I do traditional oil and watercolor painting/pencils. I've been dabbling in molding clay sculpting and 3D pen work as well.

:sparkles: What’s your favorite part of SUA? :sparkles:

The community! It's such a fresh breath of air to be a part of something active and not damaged by broken algorithm systems. The s here are so down to earth, the chats are such a blast and people here are always a treat to speak to.

:sparkles: Any tips or advice for aspiring artists? :sparkles:

Learn the value of positivity. It is so easy to compare yourself to others and quickly get discouraged, but the opportunity to get inspired is something you shouldn’t overlook. You are your own worst enemy, but you don't have to be. Everyone is on their own path of learning, It's okay to get frustrated, it’s okay to get lost and it’s okay to get stuck. Just that it's a process and to always take from it what lessons you can. Being kind and critical to/with yourself have to go hand in hand in order to be successful!

:sparkles: Who is Masked Fae? Tell us a little bit about yourself? :sparkles:

Well, I’m ‘Fae’. I like writing as a hobby, and it’s something that I would like to do more seriously, as well as editing. I’ve been working on writing a few books towards that end.

:sparkles: How long have you been writing for? :sparkles:

I’ve been writing for about eight years. However, I'd say that the last five years is when I really committed to it and started writing more regularly.

:sparkles: What inspired you to begin writing? :sparkles:

When I was younger I preferred to read but I also had a tendency to daydream. Eventually, those ideas linked together. I found that I wanted to and follow the stories I came up with, so I started writing them down.

:sparkles: What are your favorite types of literature? Favorite genre(s)? Favorite author(s)? :sparkles:

I really like writing fantasy and science fiction as well. I’ve always liked myths and legends, so a lot of my writing pulls from there. Tamora Pierce’s fantasy books are my favorite, especially the ‘Circle of Magic’ quartets.

:sparkles: What is your favorite part of SUA? :sparkles:

The Steven Universe Amino is amazingly active and it’s awesome to see the constant flow of ideas. New characters, plot lines, art; all sorts of things. It’s actually what drew me into watching the series rather than the other way around.

:sparkles: Any tips or advice for aspiring writers? :sparkles:

Writing advice can be somewhat subjective. It’s good to know the basics like story structure and grammar, but once you do, they’re really flexible. Something that still plagues me is motivation. I’ve found that is really helpful. Finding someone you can write and share ideas with can help you work through writer’s block, and feel more excited about that next chapter. Inspiration will not always be there, but if you have someone to remind you why you keep writing, it’s a lot easier to sit down and convince yourself to start. It doesn’t have to be brilliant to be good progress.

Moonie’s Moonstone

:sparkles: What are some traits of your character? :sparkles:

On the surface Moonie is fairly easy to describe. She has traits that are immediately obvious, for example: she's quiet, ive, and perhaps a little bland at times. Through interaction however, her thoughtfulness and sassy appeal can unearth from beneath her natural shyness.

:sparkles: What inspired you to create your character? :sparkles:

It was mostly my love for the moon and stars that led me to create Moonie. Space themes have always had a special place in my heart. Creating Moonie is simply compiling all that love for space into a character.

:sparkles: How long have you been developing this OC of your’s? :sparkles:

Her development has taken well over three years and creation only happened way back when I was stuck between a cassiterite or a Moonstone. I went with the latter because of my love for the moon and stars, but at the same time I didn't want to play into what I felt can be moon-based clichés.

:sparkles: What is your favorite thing about them? :sparkles:

This leads to a lot of internal monologuing and sprinklings of subtle expression when writing which are some of my favorite things to describe about her. A lot of my time has been spent developing her into a complex individual (along with my own particular "type" of canon Moonstones, hence why she isn't my only one).

:sparkles: What is your least favorite thing about them? :sparkles:

All in all, my Moonstone is probably the best developed OC I've ever had. Though there's always some details to work out (realistic hobbies are unexpectedly difficult to nail down). I love that she allows me to add some spice to my writing via her subtle cues; even if they're as subtle as a breath.
