For the past few weeks, Peanut was struck by a feeling of intense guilt. Ever since Spinel's encounter with Diopside, her stomach would be in knots and she would squirm in her seat on the bench. As soon as she could break free from her group she would come to sit in the same area where she would meet Spinel, however, Spinel was no where to be found. Each day would and Spinel would not come, yet Peanut waited. To say she was nervous was an understatement.

When she reformed back with Diopside, she was prepared for the worst but she hadn't expected not hearing from Spinel at all. It hurt her just thinking about Spinel's face when she was poofed. It wasn't intentional, Spinel would never hurt her, Peanut was the one who had jumped in front of Spinel's sword. Nevertheless the look of utter shock and distress was forever engraved into Peanut's memory. She wanted to comfort Spinel and tell her it was okay. Peanut had done it to protect Spinel, not to cause her pain. She couldn't allow Diopside to hurt her like she had done to so many other gems. Knowing this, however, did nothing to calm the guilt she felt. With each ing day she went without hearing from Spinel, the feeling only worsened.

Did Spinel hate her?

Did she blame herself? Was she ashamed and that was the reason she wasn't ing her?

  Each day she would show up and wait for someone who was most likely not going to show.

Would she ever see Spinel again?

The silence in the small gazebo made tears fill her eyes. It felt so strange to think to answer that question. She had accepted Spinel as a presence in her life and now it was likely she would never get to even say some parting words with her.

Did Spinel want to be with her anymore?

   The tears began to cloud Peanut's vision, so much so that she didn't see the figure that was standing before her.

"Excuse me?" A voice called.

   Peanut all but jumped at the sound and looked up to see a gem with white hair and dark grey skin.

"Uh y-yes?"

"Hello, might you be Peanut Wood?"

"Umm yes. Yes I am Peanut Wood."

"Hello Peanut, I am Snowflake Obsidian. I have something for you."

The gem reached behind him and pulled out a small envelope. He surveyed the document before handing it to Peanut. Peanut was confused, but otherwise took the envelope from the gem. Was it a new task? Why couldn't Diopside just give it to her herself when she was back in their quarters?

"It's from Star Spinel. I was tasked to give it to you," Snowflake Obsidian clarified.

  Peanut's eyes widened and she haphazardly worked to open the envelope and dig out the contents inside. It was a letter. As she unfolded it she could see writing scrawled all over it.

   Peanut read the letter over and over again. She wanted to take in every single one of Spinel's words if only to assure herself that it was real.

"Are you okay?" Snowflake Obsidian asked her. Peanut hadn't realized that she was crying. She laughed but the tears only continued to spill over.

"Yes yes I'm fine just....may I....may I write to her?" Her voice was a bit shaky despite her smile and the emotions welling up inside of her. The tears were obscuring her vision now but she didn't care. Spinel was okay. She was okay.

"Yes of course."

   So they wrote. They exchanged these love letters, with Snowflake Obsidian being the messenger. Peanut assured Spinel that she was alright and the reasons for her actions. She needed to be sure Spinel knew that nothing was her fault. Peanut, in turn, learned that Spinel had not meant to go without ing her and was actually locked in a room as of Onyx's orders. They exchanged apologies and words of gratitude. Sometimes they would talk about trivial things, like some of the mundane things in their day, other times they would express just how much they missed one another, but there was never a day where they didn't write. For it was the only thing they looked forward to.

   As per usual, Peanut waited at the gazebo. She had expected to see Snowflake Obsidian rear his head with a letter in tow but when she glanced around she did not see Obsidian. She saw someone else.

   Dozens of thoughts were racing in her head. She was beyond happy to see Spinel, so very happy, but she was also profoundly aware of how risky this all was.

    Yet, despite that, it didn't take much for her to give in to Spinel. Her answer was so sincere and being in such close proximity with Spinel brought her back to the reality of just how much she had missed her.

     But she didn't fight. She wanted to be close to her again and feel her form against her own. She wanted Spinel to touch her and tell her sweet nothings while they watched the stars together. She wanted to hold her hand and lace their fingers together. She wanted to lean against her and hold her tightly.

   But that was not the reality. Diopside's voice cut through Peanut's emotions and she quickly pulled away.

   Spinel had to leave.

  This was dangerous.

   But how could she say no when Spinel would say things like that?
