Garnet is my favorite SU character. And that's largely because she's relatable to me as a character who loves herself, is happy with who she's become, knows who she is and is actively satisfied with the answer she found.
We focus a lot on partnering--in life and in fandom--and celebrating those relationships is beautiful. But if you're a person like me--someone who doesn't do romantic relationships--or if you're someone who would like a partner but hasn't found anyone who's a good match--holidays like Valentine's Day can be a little discouraging. You can feel lonely or left out. You can get bitter or sad.
That's why having someone like Garnet is so important. She is someone else's love, but she lives as a complete being, and she is able to move through life feeling whole, feeling confident, feeling stable. Able to handle whatever comes. She's not perfect, but she is enough. Her self is enough.
I find that inspirational as a person who prefers to not have romantic partners, and I think there are many people who could use her message of self love this Valentine's Day.
So here's some art. :kissing_smiling_eyes:

Here it is in a couple different tints because it looks cool.

And a couple that are shifting colors because why not? Love is so many colors.

This art is traditional, drawn with Copic markers on paper, and took about 2.5 hours. Please see my progress shots below!
