I, am severely tired, but nothing stopped me from working on this. Took me a long while to plan out spinels injector. I forgot to add my notes on this, I didn’t make a sketch because I was dealing with a fairly cylindrical shape not a 2d image.
I would say that the fairly difficult part of this would be the top gemstone and the legs, the gem cannot be accurately referenced from the movie, at one angle you could consider it as an octogon based shape (8 sides but not the face) but another angle it is a decagon (10 sides) so I did the cut as a decagon, the heart cut was difficult as the dip in the heart isn’t necessarily a direct cut through its just the face of the top and I struggled immensely.
The second struggle were the legs because they are fairly an odd shape, they are not quite flat nor a cone shapes its a mix of both, you could break it down to two cones but then I would need to cut them in half and make the surface flat where the leg attaches to the (grippers?) again accuracy is not on my side for this.
Anyways I tried to make this as best as I can, took me a full month of rage and frustration just for a few seconds for your enjoyment (note that I have other things going on hence why a month).
Time taken: 1 month
Programs: Maya 2018, keyshot v8 (paid)
MISSING: notes of analysis for the injector

Studied the reference images, made the model in Maya and then rendered and tweak it in keyshot
good but there doesn’t seem to be a sense of scale.
I didn’t really have anything for scale, I could do a scale of it if I plan to do the diamond ships, there wasn’t much information on how tall things were in the movie
Very nice! I am keenly aware of how difficult 3d modeling is so I commend you on this glorious piece!
Holy shitaki That Is So Ffakin realistic
