Chapter 1: Newbie
“You know? You must be the luckiest rock around. The merciful Pink Diamond keeping you even though you are a defect. You should be grateful and never mess up,” The towering Pink Agate spike in a snooty tone.
“Oh umm don’t worry.. I’ll do my best!” The ruby with one eye spoke happily as she looked around the room with dim lighting. “So when will-“ she was caught off by Pink Agate.
“Please don’t speak, only when you have permission. You will remain quiet till your new squad arrives,” Pink Agate then sighed and looked at the door, “they should be here, don’t know why they even form Ruby Squads,” Pink Agate said as the door opened and four Rubies piled in.
“Pink Agate. We are here for our new squad member,” The ruby with the pink visor said as she was slightly taller and older than the rest of the Rubies.
“Yes, here she is. And I’m sure you read in the report, her situation.”
“Yes I have, and we will gladly accept a new member.”
“Umm hi.” The one eyed Ruby said waving to the team. The rubies looked at her in disbelief, a unique ruby.
“Hello there Newbie, welcome aboard.” The leader Ruby said holding her hand out to shake her hand. The one eyed Ruby took a step back as she was fairly confused but then she grabbed the hand and shook it.
“Now that you’ve been introduced, Pink Diamond has a mission for you. Pink Diamond would like you to deliver this to the sea spire being erected right now. It’ll help power up the spire.” The Pink Agate spike as she reached behind her and pulled out the Moon Goddess statue.
“You can count on us! Let’s move it rubies!” The leader said as she grabbed the statue and they all exited the room. Down the hall they all began talking.
“So Newbie why do you only have one eye?” The ruby with her gem on her stomach said.
“Oh umm..” the new ruby said as she was cut off by the ruby with her gem on her arm.
“Lay off you guys. She’s special and now she’s one of us,” she said with a smile towards the new gem as the one eyed ruby smiled at her.
“So we all just go by Ruby? Isn’t that confusing?” The one eyed ruby said as she looked a bit confused.
“Yep, it’s not confusing once you get the hang of it,” the shortest ruby finally spoke.
“Well I’ll give you all nicknames, you’ll be Bats,” she said pointing to the shortest ruby which had her gem on her eye. “You’ll be Abby,” she said pointing to the ruby with her gem on her stomach, “you’ll be Appy,” she said to the ruby with her gem on her arm, “and you’ll be Crest!” She said to their leader.
“Crest?” She let out a short laugh, “I like the sound of that, Handy.” She said to the one eyed ruby who then smiled.
“There’s the ship, let’s make this delivery fast ok?” Abby said.
“What’s your hurry?” Bats asked.
“Well I’m trying to relax a little. I want to visit more of this Earth.”
“Don’t be lazy.” Bats said as Crest guided them all onto the ship as they all took their seats while Handy stood there in the middle not knowing which is her seat. Appy walked over and smiled.
“The seat next to mine is open,” she said with a smile, helping her to her seat. Crest pressed different buttons on her screen causing the ships engines to start. Soon the ship was in the air while the statue stood perfectly near the door on a pedestal. After a few minutes of flying, Handy got up and started walking around the ship looking at all the rubies. Handy walked around some more before she noticed a button near the door as she looked around. She pressed the red button and the hatch opened as a column surrounded the other rubies while the moon goddess statue flew out of the ship and shortly after Handy fell out as she chased after the statute while the other rubies started to panic and they immediately stopped over the Prime Kindergarten.
