hey! this is a little experiment so constructive criticism would be much appreciated >:D i’d usually write a little more detailed/differently than this but i wanted to be sorta on the safe side :flushed:
this is based off of Mona’s roleplay example in his wiki, so reading that for context helps!!

Maybe… just, maybe… it was the best possible option for him to leave his Homeworld days behind…
The memory of gaping monochromatic hallways and massive windows that stared out into the darkest oblivion of space, the irritating sound of distant clanking metal stirred in his head, he couldn’t help but try to erase it all away. Another deep breath brought him into yet another memory, though it caused a horrible chill down his spine as he let himself sink into it...
“Monazite,” an agate announced in his office’s doorway, though Mona felt like there was something missing from the sentence now recalling it. “You have been tasked with creating a blueprint for a modified destabilizer that is to be distributed to all enforcers across the Palace. Understood?”
“Yeah, yeah, got it,” Monazite was hunched over what looked to be a robotic arm, messing with its inner mechanisms. He paused to see whether or not the messenger was still standing there, his eyes scanning them carefully.
“This instant, Monazite.” The agate’s eyes hardened, one of her arms slipping behind her back. A devious look emerged across their face as she took a step further into the office, Mona moving his chair a few inches closer to the farest wall as a response.
He couldn’t help but gaze at the gem’s arm, pondering on what her motive was…
“You wouldn’t disobey your superiors would you, Mona?” Agate leaned, a sly grin on her face as she pierced Monazite with nothing but her empty gaze. The feeling of terror spiked through Mona’s frozen body, his breathing hastening as he pressed himself to the wall as hard as he could. Through the gap in the agate’s arm, however, he saw the door slowly shut on its own.
It became dark as the light from the hall had been stolen away from the two gems, though something wasn’t right. Not in the slightest, Monazite thought.
“You’ve been taught to listen to your agates, yes?” Agate’s voice dampened into an eerie whisper, their hidden arm suddenly relaxing.
“Of course, my agate,” Mona’s voice trembled, staring back into pools of void on the agate’s face.
“I… promise I’ll… do better,” His voice diminished as the chair he was sitting in rolled from under him back to his desk, now beginning to slump against the wall. Mona’s arm twitched, the same occurring for the prosthetic on the desk from before.
“You should, Zita…” The yellow glow and sparks of a destabilizer filled the darkened room suddenly, Monazite’s eyes widening like full moons. Agate held it just above Mona’s face, a crazed look on her face now illuminated by the cruel device as dark blobs filled the horrified gem’s eyes right before them.
“Nothing done in this room will leave this room, understood?” Agate scowled as they stored the destabilizer into the gemstone on their leg, making her way back to the door. Monazite slowly nodded, curling himself into a ball in the corner as he wiped the blobs from his face.
“T-the… blueprints will… be sent out… s-soon, ma’am,” He stuttered as he struggled to pull himself up to his desk, the agate grinning before finally leaving the room.
Monazite stirred around as he began to escape from his memory, slapping himself awake with his robotic arm. He gasped for air, desperately observing the area around him before stopping and staring.
Staring at a horrible reminder…

Fun AU Fact: Agates are higher ranked than any gem that has a mechanic, engineer or other creation role due to their enforcer roles
Fun AU Fact 2:
stuff like this happens more often than you think in buttercup’s court especially :’’’)
