Steven Universe Toys: Vualá Figures

The Vualá figures are snack prizes inside of a line of cartoon-themed snack packaging! They are only available in some Spanish-speaking countries that I have sadly never been to, so my access to the toys has been limited, but I have managed to collect ALL OF THEM with the help of an eBayer, a Mercari seller, and two Redditors willing to sell to me.

Let's look at all the Vualá prizes and evaluate their qualities!

GARNET

She looks cute with her big head and gauntlets out, wearing her Season 2 to Season 5 pre-Change Your Mind outfit. Very authentic Garnet.

AMETHYST

Amethyst, arms open in her Season 2 post-Reformed to Season 3 pre-Crack the Whip outfit, does not get the giant-head-tiny-body treatment Garnet did. This is a slick figure and very true to Amethyst's form!

PEARL

Pearl has her Season 1 post-Steven the Sword Fighter to Season 5 pre-Change Your Mind outfit, and she has such a tiny body it disappears under the enormity of that head! She looks very ready to explain something to you. Great likeness.

PEACE STEVEN

Steven, as the main character, deserves his multiple figures. This one features a peace-loving kid Steven with a big grin on his face. He gets the sturdier, wider body rendering that Amethyst got above, and it suits him.

SITTING STEVEN

Sitting Steven is a precious cinnamon roll, enjoying a quiet moment with a small smile. He looks very lovable.

SINGING STEVEN

Our Steven has a microphone and is treating us to a concert! The way the head connects allows us to tilt his head if we like, and that's especially appropriate for this figure.

RUNNING STEVEN

I'm sure this happy Steven is on his way to mischief, fun, or saving the world! He can wiggle his head too, and his expression of joy is infectious!

BISMUTH

Bismuth, the quintessential Crystal Gem, appears here in her armor! This is apparently her post-Made of Honor outfit since she didn't wear the armor until the wedding in Reunited. I'm delighted that this figure exists, but so disappointed that this is the only existing licensed Bismuth figure or toy! She looks awesome with her pose and the stockier body. Bismuth is ready to fight or ready to party.

LION

Lion doesn't care what you say as long as he gets his naps. (And maybe Lion Lickers.) He's got a big fluffy mane that fits nicely with the smaller but still substantial body. The expression they picked for him is pure Lion.

STEVONNIE

Here the makers chose Stevonnie's debut outfit (Alone Together) and gave them a sort of in-between body style--not the stocky ones we've seen on Steven, Bismuth, and Amethyst, but not the super-tiny bodies they gave to Garnet and Pearl. Stevonnie is clearly jazzed to dance or go driving. I'm sad to report that despite four Stevens in the set, there is no matching Connie.

LARS

Lars in his work outfit pre-space adventure is an odd choice for the set--he is the only human in the set, beating out more common choices like Connie and Greg (and even Onion!). There is no Sadie to go with him. Lars looks like he's in a relatively pleasant mood here, like at least he isn't about to insult you, and he's got a big old head and tiny skinny body like Pearl.

LAPIS LAZULI

Our Lapis bears a determined, confident, happy expression--one we do not see from her often on the show--and she alone of the Gems has on her post-Change Your Mind outfit (even including the delicate little gold laced sandals). Lapis notably does not have her wings out--every other toy and figure of her does--and they chose the tiny body for Lapis so her head looks giant.

PERIDOT

This little nerd has her big old triangle hair and her enthusiastic expression, ready to fix some machines or engage in friendship activities. She is shown post-limb-enhancers so the outfit is post-Catch and Release but pre-Change Your Mind. Peri has a smallish body that's appropriate for her build, and I love her little hands.

MR. UNIVERSE VAN

We don't have Mr. Universe himself, but we do have the van he drove into our hearts! This single-piece flat token is an attractive, accurate repluca of Greg's van.

STEVEN SHIRT

This sturdy flat token with Steven's signature star on a shirt shape is a puzzling choice for inclusion, but it's quite cute!

STEVEN STAR

This flat star token is the only item that comes with no sticker to apply. This is probably why it comes with a sheet of super mini stickers, though I have not applied them anywhere.

STEVEN SHIELD

This beautiful little flat replica of Steven's shield looks so nice and appealing! Steven's mother may not be part of the set, but the shield she used, not the sword, is here.

COOKIE CAT

Oh, how could you go wrong with a Cookie Cat? This flat token looks good enough to eat.

GARNET GAUNTLETS KEYCHAIN

Garnet's gauntlets look really slick on a keychain! I have my doubts about whether the plastic clip and simple sticker would hold up well as a keychain, so it will stay with the collection. Veey cool idea.

STEVEN UNIVERSE LOGO KEYCHAIN

Same concerns about its viability as a keychain as above. Just a nice logo for what we all came to see!

Very happy and grateful that I was able to eventually complete this set even though the product is not sold in my country! Yay!
